I've still seen a couple 2019's rolling around, as well as '20's (one of which I drive), and '21's. I've seen no 2022 Freightliner sleepers. I'm wondering if they will order new 2023 Cascadia's.

So I have some time to kill at the shipper, and I came up with a few negatives about the truck. I have to state again that I'm in no way complaining, as I said in my very lengthy previous 2 posts.
So here are the few negatives that I can think of for the 2023 Peterbilt:
1. The Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is way too sensitive, I think the 2023's are even more sensitive than the 2020's although I don't have any proof of that obviously. Examples:
- It will freak out over random bridges that are nowhere near 13'6, I'm talking bridges that are probably in the 15 feet or higher range.
- One time at the Chicago Terminal (whatever that suburb is I realize the terminal isn't in Chicago proper), I was I guess a mile or two away from it. The light was red and I was coming up on a light going in between 10-15 MPH with cars stopped at the light. I was nowhere close to hitting the car in front of me and my ACC did the highest alert it could do (where it has the big red STOP that pops up on the dash) and less than a second after immediately slammed on the brakes. The guy in the car in front of me (stopped at the light) looked behind me and gave me a WTF look, and all I could do was kind of shrug my shoulders. Thank God nobody was behind me.
2. The ACC is way too loud. I wear earplugs all the time when I drive in an effort to preserve my hearing (hearing loss runs in my family) and the ACC, when it starts beeping because you are to close to somebody, is extremely loud even with earplugs. It's loud enough that it would give you permanent hearing damage if that thing was going off constantly in your ear.
3. The ACC takes too long to realize vehicles in the lane immediately to the right lane of my truck are not in my lane anymore. I always have to put my foot on the pedal when the ACC is turned on and cars start exiting the interstate, because I know the ACC will slam on the brakes because it mistakenly thinks the vehicle that's exiting the interstate on the off ramp, and in a completely different lane than mine, is still in my lane.
4. The ACC will make an extremely loud beep noise if you veer off your lane and onto the shoulder even just slightly. And same if you go a bit to far into the left lane. But the thing about the beep is that it will beep on the side of the truck that is departing the lane too much. For example if you go slightly onto the shoulder it will make an extremely loud beep noise right beside my right ear. I don't know which speaker it comes from but it feels like the beep is right beside my ear, whether my left ear or right ear. It just seems like a cruel and inhumane kind of experiment that a scientist might make on an animal or something, like they are trying to subconsiously condition us to the beeps going to certain ears based on which side of the truck is veering off a bit too much from the lane that it's in. I just don't like it.
5. My headlights are too bright in the 2023. I never (or extremely rarely) got flashed in my 2020 Peterbilt. I get the double flash ALL the time now in this 2023. I might see about perhaps swapping them out for lights that aren't blinding people, although that costs money and might not go well with warranty issues or whatever so that might not happen.
So there's my constructive criticisms of the 2023 Peterbilt. As you can see, it's mainly just the ACC that I have issues with. But again, I'm extremely grateful for the truck and for all that Magnum has done for me. I really do like it here. -
As for the headlights I would swing by the shop to see if they can adjust them for you. I put in different headlights in my truck (nothing fancy, just upgraded halogens) and my low beams somewhere between low and high beams, and my highbeams lit up the treetops. Great, but I don't want to birdwatch in Texas at 4 am. Fortunately my truck has an adjustor screw that i messed with to correct the angle. I'm not sure if the LED headlight assemblies have that option.MaineRoad96 Thanks this. -
Also coming off of 4 days of hometime. Picking up a preload in Ponca City tomorrow for thursday delivery in Fridley. I've been really wanting a run out to Washington for a couple months now. I want to see Montana and the PAC NW before the snow season kicks into high gear. I've never seen it at the peak of summer. Jenn is apparently gone all week so Matt M. is dispatching everything in ND/MN. Tried to get a hold of him today with no dice. Probably an extremely busy Monday for him. I'll shot him a PeopleNet message if I can't get a hold of him tomorrow.
I also called maintenance to get my truck into the garage. It's almost 4k miles past its PM according to the sticker...oops. Not sure what needs done. They never elaborated and I never asked. -

Still a good starter company and for some who live in say the twin cities it’s a decent long term company. You didn’t find them a good fit, so be it, move on an enjoy life.cdavis188, Goldenfan, Nateman482 and 2 others Thank this. -
What’s wrong with tat’s?
I have tats from the unit I served in the AF.
My daughter has several tats some to honor her biological mother who put her for adoption instead of aborting her because of her addiction problems. I can honestly say my daughter has done more to help other kids. She has testified before the GA state senate education committee about dyslexia to get passed a program in schools for dyslexic kids. Regularly speaks to groups of kids with dyslexia
