I have mostly driven Freightliners in my career. Never been much of a Pete fan, but this one is waaaaaaaay more comfy than the last one I drove (and better than the 587 we took our road test in) and also rides much beter than most trucks I have driven.

Something funny happened to me a bit ago. After pulling the night shift and split logging this load so I can get to the delivery on time and have enough time left to get home, I was exhausted. I was more sound asleep than I have been in a week (finally settling into a comfort zone being back in a truck). I got woke up by my phone, in my sleep induced fog, I thought it was my alarm going of...but it wouldn't snooze. Turns out, it was a phone call....from Poly's dispatch...he called to see why I hadn't put myself on the board, it is well past the limit of home time, and that I needed to get moving...I told him I was under a load, from Chicago to Gainesville...he was confused. I said, I am pulling a Magnum load....he was more confused...I finally told him that I had quit on the 13 and was working for Magnum. Seems as though no one told Poly's operations to remove my name from their driver list.

Hope I don't get a call like radioshark did from a broker...I am afraid that I would have to screw with them a while before revealing that I don't work there anymore.

Hey winnyf1, you said you did this Chicago to Gainesville run last week...was the receiver quick about unloading, or was it one of those places that gets around to unloading eventually?

They were pretty quick I ended up parking about a hour away and was out of there in about two hours.

Magnum just beeped me with my t-check for my lumper...glad they did, I was pretty tired when I stopped for my break...lumper fee's were the last thing on my mind...glad they have their stuff together up there!

The timing of this load has made it so I am running 9 hours of my day to get to the delivery so I was hoping that they were quick. I would hate to have to park for 8 sleeper hours so I could drive 30 minutes to get home.

Does Magnum expect you to split the sleeper in order make an appt. time ?

Are there companies, especially in reefer, that don't expect you to?

What they told me is normally they don't do the rush, overnight runs. But I think this load was scheduled like this because of the upcoming holiday. And I didn't ask to reschedule it because I really need to turn as many miles as I can as quickly as I can to try to get things back on track after my Poly adventure. I have always been a 'run it when ever it takes' type driver. I prefer days, but run whenever my hours say I can to make the delivery.
