What kind of hazmat do you haul? Are your loads (dry, or reefer) drop and hook or live load/unload? What % of your loads are drop / hook or live load? If you have to pay to park do you get reimbursed? Peoplenet or Qualcom? Is the in cab comms device locked while in motion? Does Magnum have forced fuel stops (i.e. get 50gal, drive 200miles then another 30gal, drive 170miles get another 90gal....and so on - I really, really hate this).

Fuel as much as you want at any pilot or Flying J, no forced fuel stops. Pick your own route to where you're going. You're not babysat.Last edited: Nov 26, 2015
Reason for edit: Edit: Wife informed me that babysitted was not a word.28, cerberus63, mxpx148 and 2 others Thank this. -
What is your fuel network - only Flying J / Pilot or your choice of the big 4 - TA/Petro, FJ/P? I can deal with pepsi/coke - just don't be late coke does a carrier score card and will drop your contract like a hot rock if the carrier broaches a certain late delivery %.
Are you 'required' to meet an mpg goal, or is it incentivized (quarterly bonus for achieving...say...8.0 mpg over xxxxxxx miles)? -
Only Fj and Pilots. But if you can't find one in 1200 miles you're doing something wrong.
MPG depends on if you get a 15 or a 16 and the better MPG the more points you get towards your performance pay. And as far as I know you're not required to meet any MPG28 Thanks this. -

If we can use any P/FJ, how come we have the fuel book with specific stops in it?
-
Don't know SB. Just going by what I was told.

If you have the fuel guide, it explains it all.
They rate different States as more preferred than others. If you need fuel get it, but if you can fill up in a preferred State, do it. There is also some other places we can fuel. It's in the guide. It's a guide, not a bible. -
how proactive are your dm's at preplanning you out over a week? i.e. - if I'm not preplanned loads that can take me over the weekend (example: Thursday to Monday - which could be a pick, drive xxx miles drop, pick somewhere close by, drive xxx miles and so on)- I start to wonder what is going on.
I prefer (as I'm sure most people do) to be preplanned out thru a week - but I understand that can't always happen - hence - the randomness of OTR that people tend to hate (something I actually like). -
Just a suggestion, read through the thread some. A lot of good info. Most of your questions will be answered.
Our dispatchers work by region. They do their best to pre plan you ahead of time. A lot of it is on you. Communication is key at Magnum. When I am getting loaded, I'm calling the dispatcher in the region I am headed to...when I know my reload, I'm calling the next one... Sometimes you don't know till the day before, sometimes your planned out for 7 days or more....mushroom1464 and Ordy19 Thank this.
