Ice cream in top of hot pie. Cheese cake on the side. I may be new and have nothing to compare all of this too but I'm getting payed as a new driver more than some companies pay very experienced drivers. And exp drivers come in making pretty #### good too. And another .05 for hazmat and performance pay is based on your performance. So you can really only get mad at yourself if you're not making great.

There's always going to be something to complain about where ever you are. It's human nature to compare and complain. I'm just glad I don't get called and told where to go and where to fuel. I have heat and AC and a place to put my food. I may get 100 miles less but I'm good with 500-600 a day. Everyone's situation is different. But we are all working so lazy people don't have too. Keep the dirty side down fellas and get some pie. But of all the pie, hair pie is the best, minus the hair.

I look at it this way... I have a 1000-1200 mile load. I have 2 days to drive it and deliver on the 3rd day early... Then reload same day..
I can drive 600 miles the first day... In about 10 hrs... I may only have 400-600 the second day.... So if I was faster in the hills I may get 650... I still have the same timeframe to get the second day done... Wow.. So I'm done an hr earlier when I push it... I still can't deliver till 6 am the next morning!!
On a load with a lot of extra time, like you have SSB... I understand the frustration... But ya did what you could... Tried to get an early delivery or get a day of layover... All you can do is try.... Then you kick back and relax... Watch a movie, get an extra shower... Grab a reset and work yourself into a good week the next week... But who am I telling....you been around... You know the drill...

I'm getting a reset 5 days off hometime... But I made it into a 3000 mile+ for next week... This past 5 days? 2000 miles... So still 2500 a week... 10,000 a month low side... I've had 13,000 mile months... All with a week hometime every 4 weeks on average... Shoot.... That truck could chug up those hills at 35 mph... It's the big picture I'm looking at...
But that's me... Not speaking for or calling anyone else out...we all have our opinions... They are all valid....

We have good equipment, good miles, office personell that cares. Dispatchers that are quick to get you moving or tell you what is going on. Your pay is dependent on how you as a driver performs.

I must not be working for the same company. 1st load, 700 miles in 3 days. I do my part and communicate with my next zone's people as to my ETA asap...days later, on the day I am to deliver, I get a message 'when will you be available?'. 3rd load, 1300 miles...4 days to deliver...attempt to deliver early...no dice. Again, inform next zone days in advance of my availability...many hours after empty, a load...1900 total miles including deadhead, 7 days to deliver..again, a request for appointment change, with an immediate 'will see what we can do'...then silence, even after repeated prompts and requests for an update. So far, my experiences here very closely resemble my experiences at Crete, only with a lower CPM, a slightly less powerful truck...but with an APU and less micro management. I could drive slow, be under utilized and be ignored for .47 cpm...so far I haven't seen any of the advantages I have heard so much about here. If it doesn't improve soon, there are much better paying local jobs to be had... to be honest, at the pace they are feeding me, I will be lucky to see 9000 miles a month average, with me pushing for more...and not even getting 7 mpg...my pay will end up being stuck at .42 for many months and there isn't anything I can do...

Let Safety know and sorry you had to deal with the PITA, was it Ohio? They are making up for a budget shortcoming by really cracking down on trucks - though we normally do OK. I've seen a lot of independents pulled over the past several months, they try and nickel and dime out of state truckers because they'd rather pay the fine vs loosing time fighting it in court....

You been here like 2 weeks, right??? During the Holidays? And after Magnum made an exception and hired you outa Florida... I know for a fact a member of this site put in a good word for u....
Move on if your unhappy... Magnum ain't for everyone.... But if you can't go 6 months before making comparisons and #####ing every post... Maybe Magnum sucks .... For you.... But come on... You gave Poly more of a chance than your giving Magnum....!

This may not be a help, but you are a new driver and they will take some time to adjust to you and see if you are able to deliver the goods so to speak. Happened to me as well and then before I knew it I was getting 3K weeks, now with the new hires mileage has dropped off and I will talk with management, and likely all will work out.

We are a training company, I mean a pretty good one, but a training company all the same. We take new CDL's here and therefore you won't see the 75 mph 13 speed trucks here, we run 10 speeds because they are easy to shift and the speeds are limited to help out with insurance. The MX-13's we run are detuned - mileage is a big deal here and since not everyone has experience they do what gives the best average fuel economy. I don't mind the slow truck up the hill as much as I used to, don't get me wrong I wish I had a 13 spd and we were governed at 68, but I live with it.

With your experience you might be better off at someone like Monson and Sons, they drive 389 Pete gliders and as long as you don't exceed 75 mph you are good to go. The trucks run C-15 Cats and sound amazing, and after 6 mths you are allowed to switch from ELD to paper. They run a lot of meat loads which is not for everyone and often turn in weeks between 3500 and 4000 miles.

Hopefully others read some of this when considering Magnum because to be fair as good as we are there are compromises that many of us are willing to make - it all comes down to horses for courses...

SSB, not to pile on brother, I know your dealing with health issues with your wife back home, but I have followed you since your Crete days. Are you ever happy? Like Some others have said, take a deep breath, you have been trucking long enough to know that between Thanksgiving and the New year freight can be unpredictable. It will get better, Magnum is a great company, give it time, or you could go back to being micro managing at Crete, or junk equiptment at Poly.
