This entire month, all I have been getting is loads with extra days, multiple drops that are spaced half a day or more apart but not far in distance. I just got off a 640 mile 3 day load that forced me to twiddle my thumbs for 2 days because they couldn't get anyone to deliver down the street from CR on a weekend. That has been my norm. Now I'm on another 640 something mile 2 drop load that doesn't deliver until the 25th which leaves me with Jack #### for miles which screws me for months with the performance pay. Ive asked for layover pay right and left all month and only gotten a couple days. I have asked for even just ghost miles and been told no. It isn't a lack of communication on my end either. It isn't an unwillingness to drive either. I have repeatedly pushed it on roads that I should have shut it down. I drive when I need to drive. I have literally had days where I got 807 and 829 miles on a single log because I pushed it and needed to. I guarantee not many here have done that with a truck governed to 63. Do the math on that one...it's over 13 hours of drive time on one log with the required breaks. That doesn't leave more than a few minutes for additional bathroom breaks for me or the pup but I have done it because it needed done. I'm giving it time too, and kept my mouth shut on here because That's just who I am and am grateful for the job when we so desperately needed it.

well I'll put it this way, if I had a chance for a mulligan, I still wouldn't change anything. Overall feel is a lot better than most places I have been and I love not being micromanaged. And no place is perfect. For that I'm shooting for a year unless things don't start turning around for me by month 6.

No problem. I'm still making more than my pay got cut to before I left the oilfield, and I knew this job wasn't going to get me anywhere close to being back to $13k a month. We moved and our cost of living is substantially lower which means we are sitting a lot better financially than we were a few months ago. Its just frustrating because I am being held back. Im still making better than what I figured for a low ball estimate before I came here and I'm still optomistic that miles will pick up for me.

And he is a yellow lab.

Everybody's needs are different, the best thing about this thread is that you get to hear the good and the bad, for me I calculated my earnings on averaging 10K per month, sure I try and do better than that, but the stuff doesn't hit the fan unless I can't make my average - and I always try to do better.

Would I come here with 3 or more years of experience, well that would depend on where I lived and how much hometime I could get. Funny, for 7 years I lived within 20 miles of our Coon Rapids yard and if I was still there I'd get home nearly every week and average 11K per month. Some here have retirement incomes and don't need big miles, others don't and they need them.

As a newbie this is an awesome place to do one or two years, great equipment room to make minor mistakes and enough responsibility to help prepare you to be an O/O or lease driver if that's what you want. One thing is for sure, we have a top scale and for some it's never going to equal what they could earn elsewhere - it's all about what will work for you.

I am leaving the oilfield. Times are hard right now. This pay won't compare to what I'm used to but I'm used to being gone all the time. If I'm not at work I feel lost.

My son is grown and I don't have a woman needing me at home so I plan on staying out a lot. Hopefully the miles will be there.

Best of luck to all of you. Hope the miles improve.

I have been debating doing a lease or buying one. So many good things were said about Magnum. I know nowhere is perfect but at least they seem to care there from what I've heard.

Why would they throw him under the bus if it was done legally?

did you miss the part where I said that I made all the required stops? You can drive 11 hours in 14 hours before needing 10 hours off. Plus 30 minute break after 8 hours. With a legitimate pretrip, that's 11 hours in day 15 minutes shy of 12 hours. Add 10 hours To the minute to reset your drive hours and that is 22 out of a 24 hour period. That is perfectly within the confines of HOS and still 13 drive hours on one calender day's log, so what are they going to throw me under the bus for exactly?
