The chicken plant where I worked when I 1st got my CDL had directions like that only we're talking the rural, dirt road, back roads of FL. It was "go down yonder a fair piece, not to fur (which means far), and turn left at Dave Walkers tree farm, they cut his trees down a few years back, but his field is still there, then go down 3 or 4 dirt roads and turn right(with no street signs so you don't know if it's a road or a driveway), it's the 2nd chicken farm on the left." But many times you go in at night or before dawn, and many of these farms are 100 acres off the road, and the catch crew gets there ahead of the loader to get set up, which includes turning off the lights in the chicken houses...so now you can't see the them. The cage trucks use to go out an hour or so before the catch crew to stage the 1st couple trailers so we could load while they headed back for their next trailers...I just followed them out and waited when I was headed to a farm I had never loaded at before.

You have to admit that Magnum is a pretty good company. They give you new equipment, don't micromanage you, treat you like a valuable person, and give you as much home time as you want.
Sure miles can get lower at times but they do that everywhere!
You just have to try and see the good in every situation instead of the bad.
Like on this load:
I have about 1000 miles. Nice run!
I can drive a little more relaxed.
I can stop and eat or relax a lot more than usual.
I can get in a reset (needed or not who cares, because they will pay me layover to do it!)
I can take a break from work and relax!
A lot of relaxing there but you get the point. -
EEEEEK! Parked nose-in at the pilot in Springdale, AR. The only parking spot available and Pinnacle said they are slammed so can't get to me early most likely, so I stopped here to make sure my 10 is up when I go to load. I
HATE nose-in parking, but, barring a line of trucks getting fuel, it should be ok to back out. I had one nightmare nose-in at the Jubitz in Portland when I first started driving, had to do a blind-side 90 to get out at 3am, took me like 45 minutes to get out safely. This is the first time I've done one since, but simply the only way to get parked.due to all the idiots parked in no parking zones here.
Gonna be running home, and Dagnabbit, Matt/Nick screwed me. I had requested hometime on the 25th. I won't get back til PM on the 26th. I have to pack up the apartment, which is gonna take about 5 hours, before the movers get there on the 27th in the AM, short on sleep, tired from 4 days of HARD running. Normally I dont' care about getting home later than requested, but this time it's gonna suck. Movers will charge me $113 per hour to pack me up, so I guess I'm just gonna deal with it and pack up Tues all night.
I am definitely calling in some favors on this, have some friends come over and help for beer and pizza.
On the upside, it's 2300 miles including the deadhead from Paris, TX to Rogers, AR with the only down-time a NECESSARY 34 reset in Sulphur Spgs, TX.Pigbacon Thanks this. -
Picking up at Simplot . Got a nickname from the guy here already... Mr Impatient..
Got that because the sign says "PUSH BUTTON." No matter how many times I pushed the button or banged on the door they didn't acknowledge me. Lol so I beat, banged, and pushed the button for about 15 minutes.
If they would have just gestured that they knew I was there, Maybe I wouldn't seem to be so Impatient.Last edited: Apr 22, 2016
