Yea, but 300 miles a day doesn't pay the bills. And it's not just this load, it's almost every load here for me. And what good does fancy new, yet gremlin filled equipment do for me? Nothing. Inverter can't make up it's mind if it wants to work or not, P-net still locks up at least once a week, now the door switch on the drivers door is going out...with 50k on the odometer. Jesus, where did Peterbilt, Peoplenet and Thermoking learn to make their stuff, at the Navistar truck building accademy in Mexico. I am gonna stop being so hard on International, their stuff really wasn't that much different than all the rest after all. Maybe once I am given the chance to make some miles, maybe then I can afford to stop and have this thing fixed.

I feel your pain. It's been a lot better than 300 for me, but for about three months it was right there. I certainly would not stay if I was still getting 2100 miles per week. And when you've been getting 2100, the one or two weeks you get decent miles, while nice, don't take the three months of crap stink out of your nose enough to make getting another 2100-mile week palatable. Add into that ANY kind of mishap with the truck breaking down, getting screwed out of a layover day, etc a DISASTER instead of an inconvenience.

I've had better luck than you, and have fewer bills. But ya, 3 days for 900 miles doesn't get it. Even with the $75 layover. You're basically out for 1/2 a day with NO pay and one day at less than 1/2 pay for what you'd be making driving. If that was consistent, you're basically giving three days a week away for free. Have you looked at K&B out of Sioux City? I understand they offer you a guaranteed minimum of $1125 a week if you deliver on-time. That HAS to be a lot better than you're doing here. Not the greatest company to work for, I hear, but but hey, it's a consistent decent paycheck.

Not a bad run and pretty easy to get to. I came down i49 to 412 then 59 to spend a little less time two lane. I slept here last night and they came out to the truck this morning and put me in a door before I even asked about getting unloaded early.

I'm lucky. My brother lives close by so I can stay at his house and unload Monday. Then I finally take some home time.

Guess I am gonna have to take the same advise that was posted to Jubal a while back and start going home more. My best miles are going home, and coming back out after hometime. It's the in between loads that are dragging me down.

Might be a better deal for both of us.

I just looked at my 4/22 paycheck and was not happy at all. On average, I've made about $1000 a week here, GROSS. I've taken about three days a month hometime. Hopefully once I get my review, that number will go up to $1200 or so. That would be in the 54kish range, which is OK, but not great considering the hours I'm out. It's enough to get me to stay, but not enough to make me very happy.

Given the hours, this SHOULD be a $80-100k a year job. But freight rates are screwing everyone, including our bosses. I've come to the conclusion that the way they did deregulation was a huge mistake.

I just want to congratulate Winnyf1 on getting a Driver Excellence Award for March!

Is that for anything in particular or just all around awesomness? How do I get my excellence awarded? :D
