Dude I'm on a 945 mile 4 day trip, it happens to all of us...we all have to choose between hanging in or punching out, it's trucking and there are lots of ups and downs.

This career is so not the way to make money, it's honest work, but ya gotta love the lifestyle to stay in it, especially with the government micromanagement these days...

How often do you see over 2500 miles in a single week? It isn't just one load, or one month. I get one good week, 2 bad weeks...which translates into 1 good month, 2 bad months. The only reason I show having a 10k+ mile month in April is because I carried 750 miles over from last month, which was under 9000. Now, I have this load that is suppose to deliver in Fargo Monday. I had a choice, take a 34 and deliver it, and roll from there, or drop it and roll on. I specifically told Nick, if he had something productive, I would roll thru the weekend. He offered me a 1000 mile, 2 day load to MO, so I took it, giving up my 34...but when the load info hit, it is now being picked up by someone else and brought to me in Fargo, so now it's a 750 mile, 2 day run, and no ####ing reset. And any time I am running recap in his zone, he freaks and under utilizes me like I am some driving school rookie that can't plan or manage my hours. I don't need some pencil pusher who drives a desk to tell me how to run my hours. Offer me loads, let me decide if I can make them legally or not. It's getting so I hate delivering anywhere near Fargo, just because I know what's coming.

And I've been in this lifestyle for almost 21 years. I don't mind staying out IF I can make a living, but my daily average since I started here almost 6 months ago is in the 300's mile/day range. Daycab drivers make more and sleep in their own bed every night.

Just got one and yep I'll be getting another, will have two days of layover added as well.

There are times where this happens...as long as it's not all the time I'm good.

Remember I suggested this year not be a good fit for your experience? Yes because we train newbies here it takes some time before they fully trust you, it's also not a great place for super high miles, but yeah just picked up a new truck last week and put 2900 on it in the first week.

This week will suck because like you I have to many days to get to the customer, given what other companies are seeing I'm good with the overall miles, I don't expect to see 12K every month and as long as my trimester ave is 11K I'm good.

I admit I'm not shy about asking for specific runs and like the run I'm on I take a few bad runs to do my fair share, although I don't do the 5 stop MN to Dallas run anymore, that one plain sucks!

I haven't had a great week myself, but it happens. Just did two back to back runs less than 500 miles. On the bright side, I'm loaded for Fort Worth, then a load heading back to NC for some hometime next week. Ill probably just do my 34 right here in Fargo. On an even brighter note, no rain is predicted so for once I can come to this yard and not track fargo mud in my truck. (I just have to finish cleaning the Menards mud from yesterday)

I was thinking about possibly getting a hotel room tomorrow. Does anybody know if the Red Roof Inn gives a Magnum discount? At the very least I would go down to the J to take a shower if I don't do a hotel. I don't think I'll be using the one in the shop.
