You forgot some
4. Work for a company that depends on training fresh driving school graduates to keep seats filled
5. Work for a company who only has zone dispatch and only 5 dispatcher/planners that play musical chairs by having at least 2 or 3 leave early at various times thru the week, every week.

I'm earning less than I did. I earned 6 figures, now I'm earning half that. I lost my job due to the downturn in oil & gas prices.
I'm not complaining and venting, why? I have a great job. My employer cares about me. I work with great people. I make good money. Etc.....
Everything is gonna have ups and downs. Some of the downs really suck. Average things out and it doesn't look that bad.
You say you don't like going to Texas. Ask for one. Try to go from ND to TX. More than likely you'll get a load to NC or Jersey. Really great runs start from ND to TX or MN to TX.tallinthesaddle4life Thanks this. -
Where are things better? Better pay? Better respect? No micromanagement? Better equipment?
No matter where you go, I'm sure you will find something you don't like.Last edited: May 1, 2016

He will drive 4000 miles one week and gripe the next week that he only got 2500.
I was rethinking starting with Magnum after reading his posts. They are just unrealistic expectations.
As a wise friend of mine once said, "Ssb could have an orgasm and then complain because it made a mess!"cdavis188, tallinthesaddle4life, Hott Rodd and 7 others Thank this. -
If Magnum has lied to you then yes it's on them, but if you didn't do your homework fess up and stop slamming the company. You are in control, do something else because for some people, many people $50K is decent money.
My wife as a teacher has two master degrees and makes less than me, it's her choice to be a teacher and we are learning to live and budget differently.
The average for our type of trucking is $0.48 per mile and when I came here my focus was on getting my performance to achieve that level, and yeah it took about 6 months just as I was told it would.
So please let us know who set you up here - because it looks like you have a complaint, but I'm not sure how hard you are really willing to work to fix it. I've seen a lot of people who like to complain, but don't want to go the extra mile to really resolve the problem, the question is are you one of those people?cdavis188, tallinthesaddle4life, enicolasy and 2 others Thank this. -
Admittedly I've only got a year and a half of OTR experience under my belt so I am still much closer to a rookie than a veteran, so nobody should take what I say as gospel. I don't think anyone believes Magnum is a perfect company though. I only say that in my research before applying and experience so far, Magnum is pretty #### good. It's all just my $.02
As for the new drivers coming on, we are in an industry with tremendous turnover rates all around. Magnum is not going to be immune to that. In my recent trips through Fargo and Coon Rapids I didn't see any massive build up of otr trucks needing drivers like you might see at other company terminals.
I personally don't mind ssb posting his experiences and I don't think anybody wants to silence him. I think many just get tired of the near constant negativity.
When I registered on here, I almost used the name oddball.
