Just hoping we start going to Cali soon. I can see some nice 3000 + mile runs from Cali to the Northeast. and vice versa.

So.. Got home Tuesday, packed up wednesday, the movers came Thursday and the dang cleaners cancelled on me, so I wasn't able to get out of the apt. Til Fri PM, when I was supposed to be back out.

Spent the weekend with an old friend and hopefully Matt will find something for me Monday.

Still and all, at least I don't have a $1000 a month millstone around my neck for a place I only see a couple days a month. VERY glad about that. Taking an extra three days at home was actually pretty nice, all things considered.

Keeping the car at my sisters and getting my mail forwarded to her, since I trust her to open it if it looks like a bill or something. Slipped her some money so she can pay my closing electricity and cable bills. Everything is in storage and I'm looking forward to a productive summer now that my miles have started to get a more substantial and consistent.

Chad said in the last conference call that Cali was NEVER going to happen. Has that changed?

Going to a coast to coast company will help your miles... That ain't Magnum....

We are an Outbound Fargo and Minnesota Company. We leave from there and 80% of our loads are designed to get you back there. An average load is 800 to 1200. Just the way it is. You will get loads 1500-2000 and you will get 400-700 too.
With it being reefer... Unload times dictate the amount of days on the load.
Why is 1/4+ of our drivers from NC? Cause it's our #1 State after the ND, MN, IL, WI corridor. It's easy to get us home and easy to get us back to MN or Fargo..

I have no issues with snack bar posts. It just seems to me that he would adjust his expectations or move to another company that can fulfill his expectations.

Last year was my first full year at Magnum. I made around $53000 when all was said and done. Slave wages? Please, remember there was no wages for slaves. I work 3-4 weeks and then take off 5-7 days. I came from an industry that is similar to trucking. As in, the wages have steadily decreased or at the best stayed stagnant since the 90s. Trucking is one of MANY industries like that. Sure isn't Magnums fault... A big part of it is elogs... Yes... Truckers made GREAT money in the past... On paper logs... And skirting the rules... With a truck that went more than 64.....and without a DOT breathing down your necks constantly.... But that ain't today... And it's dumb to even compare it... It's like making comparisons between Michael Jordan's Championship teams and Lebron James Championship games...different, times, different era, different, different different....

I'd rather make $5000 less a year at Magnum (that's less than $100 a week) compared to some people's expectations, have a new truck with an APU, fridge and inverter.. Very little micromanagement, no forced routing, no forced fuel stops, very liberal hometime policy, break down pay, detention pay, lay over pay, a very nice dispatch team that treats me with respect, a management team I can walk in and see, and a bunch of really cool drivers...
I also live simply, 1 manageable mortgage, a wife that works, no kids, no car payments for me... , (my wife has a small car payment) ect...

Now Im going to walk down the street from the Truck Stop after only driving 370 miles today to get a big ol steak dinner and watch some baseball and/or NASCAR... Enjoy my day... And I'll drive the 550 miles to my first stop tomorrow.... I am also picking up my wife so she can come with me while I make my stops on Tuesday.. Cause Magnum has a nice rider policy too...

Most of all, I am happy. Job, home, wife ect ....But that's entirely my choice.....

I will make one final response to what has been posted lately, then I will only post the happy happy, joy joy things in my experiences. So, if ya'll don't here from me for a while, you can surmise that one of 3 things has taken place. 1) it's SOSDD for me. 2) I have left the company with no forwarding address. 3) I have exploded from lack of venting, and am no longer a competitor in the human race.

@ncmickey, about the beating a dead horse graphic...just remember my good man, you kinda' sorta' requested it...
@Winnyf1, in response to your post about where I got my expectations....from Magnum's very own recruiting site:
    Screenshot_2016-05-01-15-01-41.png
And before I blindly believed that, I asked drivers how accurate that statement was, most said that it wasn't far off.

    @Pigbacon, on the post about me being unhappy with a 4500 and a 2500...I wouldn't be unhappy with 2 2500's if I knew 2 1500's weren't close behind.
    Here is my year

Jan. 7033 (which included a bunch of extra days from the transition to the current payroll cutoff), 4469.

Feb. 5369, 1819 (hometime after 70 days on the road, but still was available 9 of 14 days in the payroll period)

    March 5926, 4950

April 3263 (most of these miles and my hometime were from March but pay period rolled into early April, home for wife's surgery, that ended up being cancelled, again was available 9 of the 14 days in the pay period), 4621, 4728.

So, there you have it...this is why I am so negative...not many people would be positive with numbers like this.

So in order to keep some folks jockey's from bunching, I'll be going now...see ya in happier times.

ill admit i'm new to the company, but have talked to drivers who have spent month's without going to Fargo. How exactly would running coast to coast keep a driver from home time? Couldn't you turn down loads that might interfere with home time?

    ncmickey Thanks this.

You are correct my good man in return. I want you to post. I want you to succeed. I have had your back from the beginning.

My point, which you seem to miss.... your complaints are always the same. I was told the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Your in your first 6 months. Over and over we said to hang in there, learn the system. 1st six months to expect 2000-2500 miles. We have been right. You complain. Everything we have tried to give you advice on you have a comeback why your different. Why it sucks for you. Instead of giving it time, you complain. You bad mouth us the drivers, the dispatchers, the company, and it's 'partners'. Then expect it to get better. When it was starting to get better... And there was a change or snafu... You immediately reverted back to attack mode...
I'm cool with it. I don't expect you to change now. I enjoy your posts. Like watching a train wreck...I am not responsible for your difficult time or Magnums reputation. If no one comes to Magnum because of your posts here... Oh well...They will still get drivers. I will still like Magnum. I will still like my job... My life.. And that's that....

First thanks for posting the Magnum screen shot, it's for a full year driver but the point is taken, something that you should talk with management about and when I say talk i mean an actual scheduled meeting and not a quickie phone call.

You live outside of our high volume running lanes like me which is why I stay out a bit longer, but then I am getting 11K or more...if as others have suggested you would take a few phone numbers maybe some of us could help you, there are tricks to learn here that help you get better runs, and we have several drivers here who are new and doing very well. You don't seem to ask hey how are you guys getting miles, where are you running, how are you managing your clock - from the outside it looks like you are blaming others.

If you were pointing out that our orientation for experienced drivers leaves room for improvement then I believe you will find widespread agreement here. We also added new drivers at a time when freight was declining, Matt acknowledged that and we have seen improvements. And we'd all like faster trucks, the 17's are governed at 62 unless you are on the cruise.

No company is perfect, but hearing time and time again about how you have been mistreated without working to make a change gets old. Again feel free to PM me, I'd be willing to do what I can to help you, I hate seeing anyone not succeed if they want to try, many heads are more powerful than one...
