A while back someone asked how I was liking the 17, well I've put 6500 on it and so far I have to admit I enjoy driving it a bit more than my manual.

The real issues come more with the new speed settings (62 mph on the pedal and 64 mph cruise) and the idle timer set at 5 min no matter what the temp is outside. That may get to be a problem. The truck handles great and so far the aero pieces underneath are still there lol.

It's a transition learning the features on the tranny, but now that I'm a bit more used to the blended throttle (this allows for clutch slippage in reverse to help you back) all is good. And slowing with the engine brake on is just awesome! I still want to tackle some big hills to see how it performs, but going through stop and go is a breeze...

As far as mpg, my last long deadhead was right at 10mpg and my overall average is 7.8 mpg so far. Today's run from Rochelle IL to Coon Rapids with 42K onboard was 8mpg so not to bad...pretty much leave the cruise on and follow the little coaching tips the truck gives ya, yes more gadgets.

Let's see how reliable it is over the next 30K, hopefully this DEF system is more stable than the last...

Dude chill, I was agreeing that we have all been there...in the Navy even top guns have nights where they just can't bring the plane back in the boat, trap after trap is missed and you end up tanking just so you can try again...no body's trying to be a super trucker, least of all me lol..

Don't fret...even us old farts can't get it in the tight holes 1st time every time....and I'm talking about the docks not....well, never mind, my mind fell off the curb right into the gutter.

I still am getting use to this Pete, I don't know if it's the mirror angle or a longer distance between my butt and the steer axle, but I've done more pull ups backing in with this truck than I have done in years, even when I had my own FLD with a longer wheelbase.

    4mer trucker Thanks this.

@supersnackbar I thought it was mandatory that all "hood" drivers had to be able to do that slow back hit the hole perfect every time thing that makes the rest of us seem inadequate LOL...

Thanks for posting and I have definitely never seen that. I know ive added 50-60 gallons a couple of times in Wisconsin and I certainly wont do it again. Other than that I've always fueled in blue and green states.

I've done the 50 gal WI fuel thing myself when I wasn't sure I was going to make the yard..... so far no one has said anything. I forget sometimes that my fuel gauge is top heavy. I can get 8-900 sometimes before it hits 1/2, but then I am lucky to get another 4-500 on the lower 1/2.
