First question I ask a prospective employer. Do you have On Guard on your trucks. If yes, thanks for your time and goodbye.

When I got to Appleton yesterday afternoon to grab that load, it was still in a door. The Shipping clerk told me they had another Fargo load already loaded though. Called Joey and got the ok to grab the other load. It was loaded in a dry van... First time in 2 years I've had a dry van load. No auto air inflation system and had the ol' lever pin retractor for sliding the tandems....
#### I am spoiled.....
Drove that up to Fargo...
Delivered that load this morning and went to the J to get a shower and coffee.
Right when I got back to the yard, my next load was being dropped....
Hooked, fueled and got outa dodge.
Drove down to Coon Rapids so I can grab dinner with @Pigbacon
Head out in the AM toward NC... Tuesday 2am delivery in Concord.... -
I don't mind 'my' onguard system. One of the reasons I don't wanna switch trucks. It beeps, sure.... Only when I am too close to the car or truck in front of me. It applies the brakes.... Only when I am really too close and I am going faster than the car or truck in front of me. It has never locked up the brakes. Just a good brake press then releases. I can always tell when it is getting ready to hit the brakes and all I have to do is press the accelerator down and it stops braking. That is for when I am driving and a car cuts in front of me then goes into the right lane usually to exit. By the time it hits the brake the car is already going to the next lane. It has never alerted falsely like at a shadow or something.
I have learned to drive WITH it not against it.
I hear horror stories from other drivers about it. Like locking up the brakes when they cross under a bridge because of the shadow. That would suck. We also do not have the lane divergence option....
I have also NEVER had safety call me because of an alert. Even if I have had 3 'auto braking' situations in a day. We also don't have cameras.
So I'm cool with 'mine' but don't feel like getting used to another truck.... -
My cure is to try and get as many Western runs as possible lol. Oh yeah, no Ongaurd in the snow and no cruise controlncmickey Thanks this. -
As a driver that has never driven with OnGuard, how does it know it is icy or snowing? Does the shop turn it off in the winter?
-
You can clear the sensor to reset, but it will just get covered again so most of us just drive on the peddle. You don't get a bunch of beeps or anything, just no cruise which in snow is fair enough... -
Winnyf1 Thanks this.

I had mine covered up at Holland but there was a sequence you could do on the cruise control buttons to get it back on. At least until you turned the truck off again. To me it was worth it.
