Soooo, how are those applications coming along? Wow you do get some of the finer customers lol, and no we don't look for misfit customers, though we definitely have our fair share!
Reefer is not for everyone l, I know we like van drivers get crap about being door closers, but there is a lot of paitience required in this job. Customers do not value our time, heck my detention money from St Could is adding up to real pay lol.
Hopefully your lanes will improve, man you're going places I haven't at Magnum that's for sure. And yeah beer loads generally are to be avoided! Wishing you a better trucking week!

I hauled a lot of beer in vans, rarely did I see 4-6 hour detention times, and we hauled from just about every brand. Plus, I rarely saw detention times over an hour or two at the distributor end, but we also had abundant equipment to do a lot more drop/hook at the brewery end.
As far as the apps, I have narrowed it down to 1 dedicated regional and a flatbed company. I had a line on a FL to MN to FL run, 3200/wk, speed limit truck, pulling dedicated for a warehouse chain that is nation wide. KW and Freightliners only...but I found out they don't offer health insurance for their drivers... Obamacare only.
The one drawback to the flatbed is that since my flatbed experience is limited to what I pulled at the chicken plant 20 years ago, I would have to ride with a trainer for a while to learn the proper way to secure a wide variety of freight...and they drive only MacksLast edited: Aug 30, 2016
Winnyf1 Thanks this. -
Wish it worked better for you . -
As I write this, I just came off an unnecessary 34, AND am now sitting at Peterbilt in Yakima, WA with a DPF problem. Even still I'm going to wind up with close to 12k miles this month. I'm not real happy I'm sitting here broke down, but I take comfort in knowing (looking at hotel flyers on the wall) that Magnum will pay me breakdown pay AND pick up the hotel room if I'm delayed too long. Meantime, I sit here in an air conditioned waiting room with a TV & satellite, drinking Peterbilt coffee, playing on my new Note 7 phone, while my cat roams around sniffing everything in the room.
With that said, I just try to take the bad with the good, although it does sound like you get more than your fair share of the bad! Good luck in your search. -
You know, at some point, I had to ask myself…
"Self".... How come everything sucks for snack bar? What I've learned from his posts is our customer suck, our equipment looks nice but really sucks, our lanes suck, our health insurance sucks, our vendors suck, where we have to fuel sucks, the office staff sucks, our planners sucks, our dispatchers suck, our terminal sucks, our repair shop sucks, and most of all, you imply that the posters on here that don't have the same experience here as you are in a Cult and lying...
And then you wonder why people react negatively to your posts...
That, my friend, is hysterical
I would love to hear some of the positive that you posted... Cause I can't recall any....cdavis188, tallinthesaddle4life, txtodd and 1 other person Thank this. -
