I just leave my bag at the end of my bed where there is the space between the bed and storage cabinet. It's not enough for my bag to fall through.

If my luggage falls through to the bottom bunk I usually wake up not knowing where I am at or what I am doing.

    Partner: Dude, really?
    Me: Are we there yet?
Partner: We haven't left yet, we are still at the yard.
Me: Oh. Are we late? Do you need a spotter?
    Partner: This guy...

You might try to seek a Volvo, or a Pete 579 in the future. Both have large beds on bottom.
I just received a 579 with single bunk. It is wonderful. Bed is huge. Love it. Set up great. Lotsa room. Lots storage. Love this truck. And this company told me they'd give me an Ultraloft in the spring if I want it.

    Lepton1 and TravR1 Thank this.

If he was offered a 579, he better hope it's an ultraloft. Imagine having a 2nd bunk in your height sleeper. (That's what Magnum uses, or I should say used until the ultraloft came along)

Does the top bunk on yours fold in half like a 379? I love my 579 but it's a single bunk. I've yet to see a double bunk 579. 379 is the same height and I never minded them since they folded in half. Actually miss it because I could use it for extra storage and not worry about stuff flying out.

    It's a mid roof international

There wa's some cabinet space offered but he got the truck the day we started training and it wasn't really cleaned since the last owner. That cabinet was where the previous guy kept his cans and the bottom was just all rust

Not trying to be a buster, okay? This is for future reference:

Your trainer left out before the crew (you and he) we’re prepared to leave. When you get issued your own truck, do not accept a load, do not leave the terminal until you and the truck are ready.

    Luck in battle.
