What we need is a hair test that shows if you had alcohol in the last 6 months. And if you test positive, you are banned from trucking for a gazillion years.

how many news article, or tv news stories have we all read/seen, where a driver is jacked up and involved in some sort of accident?

If you read around, hair test are not 100% accurate. There are a lot of things that can result in a positive that isn't there. Chemicals and hair treatments can cause issues. It will be a while, before they are used by the DOT. I use to work for a carrier that did hair test and fmcsa drug screens. You had to take both. If you failed the hair test, you would be terminated, but nothing on your record.
