Mandatory Hair Testing in Preemployment being pushed-coming soon?

From what I read a while back they do have a pot breathalyzer but it's still in the early stages.. Yea I haven't touched it in 35 years myself..and won't again till I'm floating on my sailboat fully retired about a decade from now..

 

Good, I hope the feds implement hair testing tomorrow.

Why?

What does hair testing give that ua testing doesn't?

 

Opioids are in your urine for 3-5 days.
In your hair it’s months..
We do not need addicts driving 80k down the highway.

 

Oh man. If only I didn’t have kids and could play in the snow every weekend and not lose my job.

 

What we need is a hair test that shows if you had alcohol in the last 6 months. And if you test positive, you are banned from trucking for a gazillion years.

how many news article, or tv news stories have we all read/seen, where a driver is jacked up and involved in some sort of accident?

If you read around, hair test are not 100% accurate. There are a lot of things that can result in a positive that isn't there. Chemicals and hair treatments can cause issues. It will be a while, before they are used by the DOT. I use to work for a carrier that did hair test and fmcsa drug screens. You had to take both. If you failed the hair test, you would be terminated, but nothing on your record.
