i mean its not a pissing contest, they guy in Missouri at 100k is doing just as good or better

300k californian is pretty good thats like 250 in Missouri
it's like if someone comes here from mexico and says they make 1 million pesos, what are we supposed to make of that, it doesn't compare

IDK how true it is but from what I'm understanding is California in recent years is when the cost of a house soared . Maybe it's always been that way, but I do know a lucky guy who bought a house in Colorado for under 200k and 5 years later it's worth 700k .

Yes California has always been costly and Covid pushed it even more so. It’s also pushed housing on the west coast higher in general as people move out of state.

So I assume you’re driving the big rigs you are always posting on the heavy haul threads. What do you make per year?

Do we really not take into account the fact that I'm going to get a $15,000 tax refund in February?

Like I said, I do that so my wife and I have funding for our house projects at the beginning of the year. I get that money back just before the warm season starts in Chicago, so I can...do landscaping, replace my fence, paint the house...

I get a big old refund. Don't worry about my money. Lol

And yes, of course we can discuss the merits of it being a big old interest-free loan for Uncle Sam and all the rest of that.

But it works for our construction goals, so we continue to do it.

Have you considered getting a high interest savings account? I keep my emergency fund in one earning 5.15 percent. No fees or minimum balances. You would earn about $430 extra over giving it to Uncle Sam.
