Yes and worthless. Not sure why it sucks so much for that cost. I would be better off just getting a junk plan at this point. Might be what I change to if cant find anything worth while.

Old insurance is not feasible now since it all changed. Once Obama Care took ahold it killed pretty much all decent insurance for single males. In place now family plans and low income is cheaper than a single male now.

Never heard of them. I have BCBS cheapest policy they had. Last year it cost only $75 mo. It just went up to $200. Before that I paid $250, and it had increased to $500, so I switched policies. The system is messed up. I heard $75 and ran with it. lol. That’s for 2 people based on $40k wages. This year with only 1 person, it’ll actually be more, if 3 people it would be less. Two things I’ve found to be true every time I switch policies. You can’t trust the list of approved Drs. Have to call each Dr with new policy number and see if they accept it. Also, can’t trust the estimates on website. Actual subsidy is usually higher and your premium is usually lower. Have to make a direct phone call to get final numbers and buy policy. Might need to make a few calls. First couple may not speak good english, or just dumb as a bag of rocks. I once was told I had no policy, and had to wait a year. Got a Supervisor on the phone. They actually post dated my renewal to avoid paying double deductibles, keeping my old policy for an extra month. Unfortunately you have to be diligent with them. Average person that answers the phone hasn’t a clue about how it works.

My plan was $980 per month for a family of four bronze plan, ages 40, 38, 13, 9.
$18k family or $9k individual deductible. For 2025 the premium goes up to $1165.

You probably already know - but there are private imaging places that will do MRI's and other tests and scans for a fraction of what the hospital cartels charge. Just type in 'private MRI scan near me' - there should be plenty in KC area. The one here charges $500.

We had Ambetter - or AmWorse, and it didn't cover jack. The one time I was out of state (MS or AL I think) they had never heard of it.

Then we found Zach - bluecollarhealthcare.com - and got a plan underwritten by PALIC that worked in and out of state and covered pretty much everything. $750/month, but just went up to $820. We cancelled it in October, so have no coverage right now. It was $10k/year that this year, we just couldn't see paying for.

Zach used to work for an agency that offered Ambetter, so he knew how bad it was. Then he started his own agency. Give him a shot - even just to try and find a plan that might work for your situation. He knows what he's talking about, vs. these muppets that call trying to sell plans that just read off a script.

Type that web address in directly, or you won't find it. Or use Duck Duck Go as a browser. His page is buried under a mountain of sponsored sites and crap on Google.

We're with you on the issue. Paying $10k/year for something you rarely use, and when you do use - it doesn't work. There's little wonder why the recent outrage at the industry after the UHC CEO's murder.

And to be clear - we are one truck, independent business owner with no other options for health insurance. Not a company driver, or a guy who has a wife that works and has coverage. It's basically "Wait a decade or so and get on Medicare, and if cancer occurs beforehand , then just die".

Insurance companies make more money by not providing care.
