Mercer Now requiring contractors to install omnitracs cameras

Yes it is. Insurance said all trucks have to have dash cams or rate is going up.

 

Forward facing cameras only, not driver facing ones.

 

If you don't me asking, how much are operators paying a year for required insurance coverages at Mercer?

 

If they could reign in all the accident attorneys they wouldn't even be thinking of doing this. These attorneys are winning more and more of these so called 'nuclear' awards $50 million and higher for truck crashes that are alot of the times the 4 wheelers fault.

 

That Omnitracs one that they will most likely use is dual facing.. driver facing shuts off when eld is set to off duty or sleeper

 

Crazy watching this once great company become just a name on the door. I spent nearly 30 years there, I saw Mercer at its best it was 2nd to no one.

 

The problem with the dash cameras is it could work against u, just as easily as work in your favor.

 

Yup , but the company sells the driver out. If your on the cloud doing anything except 10-2 with your eyes moving everywhere......

Oh yeah specially when it records sound as well ..... once they start making my truck payments and give me a w2 they can do that crap but until then whenever my turn comes around I’ll find something else to do
