If you logout and submit logs it will switch u to off duty. If you just submit logs and don't log out it will stay in sleeper. It's not just his phone. It happens on both my iPhone and android. Also my iPad and Samsung. If you use a dedicated device there really is no reason to log out.

Well I've heard of the other issues. The only time it puts me on duty is when I log in. I've never had it randomly log me on duty. I've forgotten to log off but that was my mistake. Personally I think it's best to buy a cheap tablet and use that instead of your phone. But that's just me.

I'm not saying he's lying, but I'm saying Mercer isn't lying. If it randomly puts him on duty, he is likely the only one having that issue. Otherwise, he is just not using it correctly.

We had elogs at a crude oil hauler in Texas, it was slip seat. You log out of that truck at the end of shift and when you log in the next night it puts you on duty. My friend logs in after being out 9:58. It put him out of driving hours. So he has to go home no pay and call in and get them to correct it.

Do you have to log in each time with who you are? Or, is it key goes in and your logged in?

You stay logged in unless you log out. Altho I have made the mistake of logging in a minute too soon. As long as it's not 2am they are happy to fix it if it is a once n awhile thing. And I haven't done it in months as the only time I log out is off duty driving. And before someone tries to claim that you can't log out to off duty drive hush. You can as you can still access your logs WITHOUT logging back in for the nice DOT officer. just make sure you noted it in your logs before you log off.

I do it all the time. I log out when I finish my day and log back in when I start back. If I so choose to drive around I do. Like you said, you can access it, and if I'm going golfing or shopping, that is not work.
