It's getting that way everywhere. It's winter, notice the parking spots at truck stops? Freight is slowing fast.

    Hey skateboardman
I'm looking to lease a quality truck and stepdeck from Mercer. Are the rates good with the stepdeck?

The rates for step and flat don't seem to very much different, the market is saturated with steps. I have pulled a flat for my 5 years here

Oh! Okay.....I m deciding if I should go with Mercer or not after reading all the reviews. Is it to many trucks there and not enough freight?

It's been a slow year for freight across the board in the open deck market for all carriers. Don't expect next year to be much better, election years are never good freight years no matter what carrier your with.

When I was in Louisville I talked with the trailer guy just out of curiosity and he said Mercer is getting over capacitated with trucks from Eagle Logistics and other companies with quality trucks. My buddy is at Eagle and he said some guys haven't got checks in weeks and they're staying out 4-6 weeks at a time. He's even trying to get over to mercer. It's a lot of trucks all the mean while freight is getting slower so you can imagine with a lot of guys with high truck payments are gonna stay out during winter and scavenge whatever freight there is just to keep from going in the hole. Unfortunately that mean that 6ft tarp load I saw on the board today going 1400 miles at 1.46 pm weighing 46,500 lbs is gonna get snatched up because it pays $2000 bucks. Who knows what the winter will hold being that this is my first one here but I do know that as a company driver the week before thanksgiving until the week after New Years was dead slow.

    Klleetrucking and larry2903 Thank this.

I agree Taylor, way over saturated. I thought they were halting the quality influx?
