Crst doesn't use elogs? That's surprising. And unless everyone pulling for crst that talks to me is either a moron or lying, that guy will only stay there a week. Think our rates are bad right now? They all claim to be under a buck fifty. A few months ago in south Dakota a couple Warren guys told me they hadn't seen a single load to even break two bucks since spring. One was a step, the other an rgn. Guys I know at admiral merchant are sitting. look at the land star threads here on truckers report and see if they are still raking in big bucks.
freight and rates are down at every single company.

The simple fact is, no matter what name is on the side of your truck, we all pull for the same customers. Some of our stuff pays a little more, some of their stuff pays a little more. but it's all with in pennies per mile of each other. trucking companies haven't dictated rates to customers since deregulation of the industry.

The trucking industry is changing more and more each day.Go with with your gut feelings, when making changes and not to be deterred by what works for others.Focus on the big picture to obtain your goals.Staying ahead of change, rather than being controlled by change.I was employed with mercer for 2 yrs doing fltbed, was successful and used that opportunity, as a stepping stone to achieve complete control of my business model.Learned a lot through the mercer experience.

Speaking of rates. I was gonna come home this weekend and spend the week at home but 2.01 per mile coming out of Florida paying $2700 was too good to pass up. It's slim pickings but you can still put a decent week together.

I'm at Malone. And right now if anyone is pulling freight for under 1.50 it's their choice or their too dang lazy to break a side kit down. I'm having no problem averaging over $2 or better. Just like every where else. You make what you want here, people are lazy and only willing to run certain states then claim everything cheap. Just because the door has four gross letters in front of MALONE doesn't mean everything's cheap. You find your agents to work with here like everywhere else and you can make a good living.

Ya but those first four letters are so bad the last six can't make up for it. It's a real pity, malone was a #### fine company before the buy out.

The beauty of Mercer is figuring out what works for you....Monday I spent about 4 hours on the board/phone & booked myself all the way till the 1st of December!!! A few days down, but short runs always pop up, so I'm not even worried about staying busy for 3 or 4 days between my long hauls.

Looking 2 or 3 weeks ahead has some serious advantages here. @CJndaTruck once asked what were some of the ways I have been successful here, planning ahead has always been my #1. Tradeshows/military/& just knowing when to run into certain parts of the country will make you or break you pulling a van here.

I see drivers complaining about rates, I hear them when I run into them...I'm not scared to DH, sit/relax, or make a few calls to benefit my own revenue. Everyone is different, but I honestly believe that if you WANT to be successful at Mercer, you WILL be!!

Most just want to put the blame on Mercer or some other crazy excuses. Maybe it's just me, but I have 100% control over my own situation here, so I am the only 1 to blame if I do well or not. I'm almost 100% sure that's how it works! What do I know, I pull Van @ a flatbed company, hahahahahaha!!!!
