I've had centramatics for years, still have them on my steers only because someone else gave them to me when mine went bad. Yes, they can go bad, the stuff inside can start to clump up and then create a terrible out of balance condition. It ate one of my steer tires and my alignment guy was going nuts trying to figure out what was wrong. When I went over an spun the wheel I realized there was not the sound of the material in the balancers moving around, it had solidified. Over the years I've had this happen twice.
I can't remember the name, balance masters I think, but there is a competitor that uses liquid, mercury perhaps. as the balancing material. Price range is the same. I will switch to those when these start to act up. Unless it gets to -38 out that liquid cannot possibly thicken or solidify.
