There's a contractor from cinncinati that leased on his refer fleet, they pretty much do their own thing, he. Needed a place to land, so he basically uses mercer authority, but its no like they are adding acreefer fleet, this guy is basically an agent and runs his own stuff

I saw an older model FLD Freightliner pulling a reefer at the Pilot in Memphis the other day. Had to do a Double Take, never saw a Mercer with a reefer. That must have been one of his.....

It's exempt as far as the gov. is concerned. Only the old mechanical trucks that are already leased to Mercer are exempt as far as Mercer is concerned. Come June 30 it will have ELD with Mercer.

    That's how I understand it.

This is correct. The official Mercer stance is, only mechanical engines can stay on paper, if they get one single logbook violation, even a written warning, they have the option to upgrade their truck, or take the decals off and find another company to truck with. And no additional mechanical engines will be signed on.

Sorry for the late response. I'm in Selma, just south of Fresno.

@earlybird1104 I am not trying to be mean and I'm sorry if this comes off that way. It seems you are about to come here not knowing what kind of truck you even want. I have to ask, have you even ran the numbers of the actual cost of a quality truck? Have you read of all the failures we have had from the quality guys? Have you found a successful quality guy that pulls a van? (I think I remember you saying you planned on pulling a van, I could be mistaken).

I'm not trying to say your going to fail. Heck I have argued on this forum that it can be done. Nor am I trying to get you to stop asking questions. The only idiots I know are the people that didn't ask questions. But reading you post over the last few days leads me to think you might not be ready for this. Or you need to jump on someone's coattail and hang on tight. You may want to get hold of the above quoted person and pick his brain. I know he didn't have an easy start here and had to make some tough changes.

Again I am not trying to be rude or mean. I just hate to see someone set up to fail and I really don't want to see anyone fail here at Mercer. Also I might suggest you read the "why do some fail at Mercer" thread. It's a little dated as it was written before Quality was a problem here but it is a good read.

I'm sorry to everyone if I've misunderstood any of this.

    whoopNride Thanks this.
