The best advice I ever received here at Mercer is to take a step back and enjoy myself. It's not always about staying loaded, pulling a load under a dollar is crazy. Sitting for the day isn't a bad idea to see what else pops up. But, if you wanna drag a box across the country and aren't willing to be patient, it will be extremely difficult.
Im sure I read this, but I'm gunna ask anyways. Do you have your Passport & TWIC? Also, I hope you have never been arrested? You would be surprised how strict some of the requirements are to pull a load.
Let your coordinator run you until you learn the system. Once you get a feel for it, do your thing. You will make mistakes, you will sit for a few days at a time. It's called learning the system.
Most of all don't stress out. You have expectations of Mercer already. This is unlike any company you have EVER been with. Whatever you think you know about freight lanes pulling van....it doesn't apply here. We are in our own little world of trucking, we are a flatbed company!!! I seriously can't stress that enough.
