Board position overrated. You know the two or three agents that really do the majority of van freight. Once they know you just call them in advance, many loads I get never even hit the board. Listen to TruckinTexas, you gotta look longer range and deal with the agents personally and overall "board position" will become relatively irrelevant. Just my experience.Truckin_Texas91411 Thanks this.

CJndaTruck, exactly why I'm coming over to Mercer.
Looking at beginning of March. While I have had some great weeks here at SNI, there have been some major weeks where somehow my load was "double booked" and a company driver took off with my load. I've made good money, but I've also lost tons of money due to that issue right there. -
$225 a pair. Yes a bit of coin but I used them again yesterday and didn't even zip up my sweatshirt. I've been very careful with mine and so far they are holding up fine.
Fair enough.Razorwyr Thanks this. -
Just a quick side question, I live just outside the Indianapolis IN area, how would you guys rate the freight in and out of the area?
Everyone I've spoken to for every company out there screams about how great it is. -
We will all have different answers. I don't like it so I don't run it. But there is a lot of it so I'm sure there is lots of good freight too. I've just never found a load (for me) paying enough to get me there. I'm sure there is great freight there. But if you read us we all run different lanes and have different styles. Heck I'm still trying new things and new areas.

How do you preselect loads for future booking on the mercer board?

For flat Indianapolis has great paying freight leaving out. Couple that with Illinois next door with good paying local stuff and Ohio with great outbound freight and your in the place to be. And don't forget about Kentucky. You could make pretty goodMarkH83 and Truckin_Texas91411 Thank this.

Thanks, that's not too bad. I told you I only wanted to have the chains to be legal, I've never thrown any before.... yeah well, I had to use them 3 times in 1 week before Christmas, I'm not a fan, especially after seeing a few guys with the socks park and roll before I had time to think about getting out of the truck. Next investment will be socks, maybe I can catch them on sale this spring and get a good deal.

If you pick your own loads when empty, it's the same way, you just search the area, see a load thar you're interested in, click on it, look at the details to make sure you want it and can do it, check off all the required fields and hit commit. Even if you aren't matched to it, once you commit it will show where you are in line.whoopNride Thanks this.
