Quick story:
First day ever driving with a trucking company YEARS ago...I was 24 with a fresh cdl in my wallet.
Lied to my employer about having 1 year driving experience...they fell for it but insisted I start out in a class b straight truck just to familiarize myself with city driving.
1st event: was instructed to go grab a straight truck from the yard an put it on a door for loading...sounds simple no problem I got it!...i stage the truck to back it on to a door...I'm fresh out of driving school so I'm a tad bit ####y as I'm pretty sure all of us were...instead of taking the door where no trucks were around I decide I want to LEVEL UP an take a door in between two combination vehicles.
Slap the truck in reverse an BLAM!!!...I take out a $600 headlight on a spanking brand new Volvo. Driver gets out an I plead for my life for this not to make it to the safety dept...he says " get back in your truck youngster and this never happened an I will let safety know in a few days that the truck was parked an somebody backed into it" lol!!
2nd: convinced the long haul manager I was capable of handling long hauls...
Going from Bham,al to battle creek,Mi.
Load of skidded coils in a 53' van!!!!
Total mistake!!! No securement. Just coils banded to skids!!!
I make it to my destination an fail to realize their are chains on the doors for a reason...(my trailer didn't have any)
Hell I never knew it was supposed to have chains so I just swung the doors open an begin to back up....BLAM!....there goes one of the doors laying next to the smokers' area table... Freakin door swung back while I was backing on my blindside an as soon as it hit the dock it snapped the door like a twig lol!!!!
Thought that was a great Segway off of Razor's incident -
Yes I'm empty now -
Knowing Skate, it's 2000 miles or less and $5000.00 or more per week...

Not far fetched at all...when I ran my own numbers ived managed to hit $6200 on a few occasions a week.
I gotta tell ya...it's gonna take some getting used to for me to pull that off here at mercer being that the loads are more orchestrated vs load n go. -
