It's cracks me up. Why not try them first, instead of throwing a crap fit. So many carriers require them now. You might end up getting those peeps who want you to run illegal all the time instead. Plus I have never had an issue with pay here.

I'm sure EVERYONE here has read the regulation: https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/regulations/title49/section/376.12
Again much ado about nothing. Mercer is trying to satisfy legal requirements between federal leasing regulations and employee/contractor discernment at both the federal and state levels. Just because something is in a contract does not mean it will be enforced. Mercer decides to pay us about as fast as can be done, definitely better than 99% of other companies, yet somehow people find a way to complain anyway. -
p.s. trying to move up in the prick ranks .....whoopNride, Truckin_Texas91411 and CJndaTruck Thank this. -

From Mercer fb
RECENTLY ANNOUNCED FROM MERCER:
Good afternoon Mercer Family! I wanted to update you all on all of the controversy surrounding the new Mercer Contract. We have decided, after careful consideration, to remove the "Billed Amounts Uncollectible" section (Appendix B, section f, paragraph ii), completely from the contract. This is the paragraph that states that Mercer has the ability, at it's discretion, to not pay a contractor for a shipment if Mercer does not get paid by the shipper. We stand behind our commitment to our contractors, and we hope you continue to have the faith in us that you always have had, that you will be paid for the work you perform. This change was officially effective on all contracts signed 2-26-16 and later. PLEASE NOTE: If you have already signed the new contract before this date, Just stop in and see Alan Hoyle, the next time you are in Louisville to receive the copy of the current and updated Appendix B. (Jason)mtoo, MarkH83, Truckin_Texas91411 and 3 others Thank this. -

And their terminal was four miles from my house.
Anyway, I didn't earn what I could have elsewhere.
And one week they wanted me to make the round trip in 6.5 days. We compromised. I did it in 7.5 days. They didn't seem to care about hos rules.
I do seem to recall telling them I would run as hard as I could log on paper (one log book).
So, yes there are companies that still expect you to run illegal.
I don't mind exceeding the hos laws a little under certain circumstances if I can do so safely. But I don't want it to be the normal everyday thing.
Btw when I would leave home I would run 850 miles the first day to be on schedule to deliver on time in California. I didn't stay long.
And it didn't pay well either !
