If I'm within 500-600 miles of home on a Friday an I don't have a load worth waiting to pickup on Monday I'm headed home.

Never had a problem getting out of the house....always freight in TX, most doesn't pay ####. But a few phone calls and I get a decent load leaving the house everytime

I don't know, seems Baytown has particularly gone in the toilet, but I don't stay anywhere longer than my break, preferably not a tstop. If I do it's under protest.

No kidding. And if I'm dead set on when I'm getting there, I may drive/fly from where ever I'm at. Told my coordinator early last summer I was deadheading to the house out of NYC if I didn't find a load. He thought I was nuts, but I found a load. My last company I but on the clock. I was in Houston and gave them plenty of notice when I wanted to be home. For a week they told me there was no freight, couldn't get me home. So, when I emptied and started my break, they called me about 6 hours into it, I said when my break is up I'm going home. You either find me a load, or tell me where you want your trailer, but I'm going home. About 10 minutes later I miraculously had a load.

I did that once. Was sitting in Bordentown NJ and was only being offered loads that paid .40-.54 cents per mile. I dead headed from there to IN back home. Company was pissed.
