Yes, they require maintenance intervals. No they don't stipulate who does them. Just save reciepts for oil and filter purchases along with records of when it was done.

Today is just as cheap, or even cheaper, buying oil at Walmart by the gallon as it is buying it bulk in drums. I've got a nice drum rack i haven't used in over ten years because of this.

 

My son owns the local concrete plant, I use stuff from the washout pit, get it by the truckload. Makes a nice drive

 

Ya that stuff works great if you can get it.
