It's really kind of a relief knowing y'all are use the coordinators as well. This whole time I thought you guys were booking all your loads yourself.

I book the majority of mine, but I can't look at the load board 24/7, I have other work to do. That's where the coordinator comes in, he can look during times I can't. Also, as @CJndaTruck stated, my coordinator has my settings different than I do. He can only see what I match to, whereas I look out further distance and at all loads, no matter how heavy or cheap they are. I relax the search for me because I like the idea of knowing how many loads and how cheap they are in an area before I go there as well as how picky I can be once I am there.

I think after Easter I'm going to try the book a good load and just find filler loads plan. I've tried it a couple of times and had good weeks doing it, but it seems like I end up with much more down time (which isn't bad except I spend more money) and sometimes d/h too far because I can't find that in between load. I know it's a gamble, but even though I come out ahead, I feel like I've lost the gamble because of it.

Vanqtransport, I got a pm saying I sent you a Facebook friend request. I don't know your name, so don't know how I would do that. The pm wouldn't let me reply. So I sent you one. Seems a bit odd as I don't recall sending any friend request

I use the coordinator as a tool. It's silly not to use all the tools that you have. I do book a vast majority of my own loads. Many of the loads my coordinator books are loads I found and told him to book.

I.e. I find a good paying load from L.A. to Stockton and see another load in Stockton to Seattle that would pay well and keep me moving. But I'm about to unload, I select the first load. I call my coordinator and tell him I want the second and if there is a third load as soon as I'm dispatched on the first (you can't book load while your accepted but not dispatched on a load). Now I can do my load/unload thing and my coordinator has his marching orders so he can try a book the other loads while I'm working. It works for me and I do find most of my loads but he finds his fair share.

It can be a gamble and you need to know Mercer lanes to pull it off (of which I'm still learning) but the rewards are worth it and if I end up with downtime I just go catch a movie. LOL. Heck if I had room for my clubs I'd use the time to get a round or two in. Besides, I'm lazy. I like downtime. ;p

I've been seeing good loads but, I guess I'm afraid to book it and not be able to get there without the big dead head. Maybe I'll take the gamble one of these days but, I think for now I'll stick to the site money. Thanks for the info!! This is all great stuff!!
