No, you take the pump price, subtract the state fuel tax and compa4e to other states. At Mercer you should get a cost-plus price so you need to know the discount to really compare prices. High tax states like Illinois and Wisconsin usually yield cheaper fuel.

If we aren't paying the IFTA then only the final price matters, we are not worried about the fuel tax.

Here's how are prices are listed. Ya'll fight over the details now ....

Pump Price Your Price ExTax Savings
    2.059 1.711 1.551 0.348
    2.049 1.754 1.594 0.295
    1.999 1.999 1.839 0.000
    2.049 1.729 1.569 0.320

I have been told that a few times in my life, so you're probably are right.

It seems the older I get, the more prickish I become.

I think we will hold a general election next month. LOL

I get in town Tuesday. Not positive I'll stay for the whole show, I was getting some pretty good offers on Friday.

So I'm not sure why Mercer drivers are fighting over IFTA and the price of fuel. We don't pay IFTA and we have a website that tells us exactly what we will pay at every fuel stop across the nation. I see discounts from 0¢ to 58¢ at a glance. Here you buy the cheapest high quality fuel you can find period. Let Mercer worry about IFTA. It's one of the reasons I'm here.

No I'm not replacing my water pump yet. I wanna see if pully is loose. I have a weird noise and IDK where it's coming from. My turbo shaft has very little play.

Well, now you are talking about how the carrier is calculating what the owner op will pay for the fuel. I agree, that is good to know but it is not relevant to what these guys are wondering about. They want to know where to buy fuel. And if you are leased to a company that pays the fuel tax shortage the only thing that really matters is buying fuel at the lowest cost (as mentioned above). Mercer (and some other carriers) give owner ops a means to check what they will pay for fuel, along with some of the other details that you have mentioned. The only thing they need to consider is where they can pay the least for fuel and try to buy the fuel in those places as much as possible. Fuel tax, pump price, retail price, wholesale price, the difference in state fuel tax rates, price of diesel in China, or any of the other interesting details about fuel are of no concern to guys wondering about where they should be buying their fuel when leased to a carrier that pays the fuel tax. And luckily, with places like Mercer, it is very easy for these guys to know where they can spend the least for fuel.

BadluckPete. If it can be done, by now we all know you will be the one to do it. LMAO. Ok I know it's really not funny. But it is kinda comical.

To add more to the IFTA discussion, remember in the new contract the owner has the option to have their own tags and their own IFTA. Not everyone at Mercer is necessarily having the company report and pay the fuel tax.
