When you change the oil at home how do you disposal it? Like auto parts store charge ...

Yeah, I dunno, I only tarped a handful of loads this winter, and none in the cold. I'm not willing to make the switch yet, but at that price it is very tempting. I'm still playing with how I look for loads on the flat side. I've been pretty happy with the one way, but that's for when I want to stretch it out and run. Now that I had a taste of running short haul for a week and I'm getting faster with securing things, I want to tweek how I look for loads. I want to see if I can't get good enough to maybe become regional/local and get home on the weekends while still making money or at least stay east of the Mississippi outside of winter time when I will probably still end up north of 80 chasing the money.

 

Trust me I get it. Doing the short haul FORCED me to get faster at securing. And I still have a ways to go. Seems I didn't tarp until December and like you I never had to deal with the cold. But I did get drenched a few times from Dec on. Seems like everything was tarp and wet. Altho I do wish that I could have found it for 5k. That would have been nice.

I have been amazed out how many places will not load me. I knew GA wasn't a good place and had hoped to get the trailer done a day sooner so I could get to a good load I knew of and start the area I had planned. I would just say do a lot of talking to agents before you get it done. We are not LHT for sure. And you see them sitting in Ontario for ever.

It is in very good condition. I looked at the trailer about a month ago,the trailer itself was a 02-03 Transcraft Eagle. the guy who owned it retired. That is a great price for just the conestoga kit.

 

Those anaheim loads won't take a conestoga?

 

If they charge you, stop doing business with them. They get paid for it.

I store it in 55 gallon drums inside my barn. Every few years when it starts accumulating i wait till oil is high i call up an oil recycling company, they come and pump it out and pay me. Think it was 27 cents per gallon last time.

But any parts store or shop should be willing to take it for free.

 

Oh, they will. So will chino which is a tarp eater but pays well. There are a few others but you have to put in a bunch of leg work at first. Most of our agents just don't look for loads, we are a flat company after all. I'm just saying its like starting over but worse. You have to call about every load which in turn makes the agent call on every load. You start feeling like a LS BCO.

Now the one thing I have yet to figure out is how this works with board positions. But I just have to tackle one thing at a time.
