I've been told by alot that if fuel gets too hot it causes ashphaltine in the fuel. Which causes black fuel filters n clogs em. I know it's not algae.
While that's true, that has more effect on fuel storage tanks. I don't think there is much you can do on your truck to change the temp of the fuel in your tanks. As truck owners all we can do is treat the problem after getting a batch of bad fuel. Edit to add: are you sure it's not the rubber fuel lines degrading that's causing the problem?
That's possible but fuel pressure seems to hold. I called couple dealers they go WTF is asphaltene. Lol
@TruckerPete1990 This is what your looking for. Fleetguard-Fuel System Additive. Its an asphaltene conditioner Cummins part # CC2597. Cummins in Nashville only stocks a couple quarts. I bought a case online. Used it for a few years and it works quite well. BioBore JF sets the industry standard for microbial growth in fuel. I get mine at the Thermo King dealer in Nashville. I have used this stuff for 20 years, it works great. Your right, you mention aspaltene yo a dealer and you get a blank stare. If you cant find it and you get south of Nashville on I65 give me a shout. Bad pictures
Cat says max fuel temp is 150 deg. Hot summer day working the truck with 1/4 tank of fuel mine would get 145 plus. This was with dual 135 gal tanks. Get a few quarts of the conditioner I posted. It works.
I was wondering where I could pick up some BioBore near me, but I keep forgetting to look it up when I'm not busy. I get through Nashville quite a bit.
What's the best way to go through Louisville? I'm coming in off 64 but don't wanna get caught in traffic on 65 need to go north of Louisville lol
