Absolutely! I was going back and forth between step and flat but after reading so much over the past fews weeks in this thread I've decided to go with flat. I'm aware I may have to do van until a flat comes available.

I'll be buying the truck from a private seller with no tags. Do I get some temp insurance first to get it to Louisville for their inspection? Not sure how to handle that part if the process yet.

Buy temp insurance. Then drive to Louisville. Then get Mercer insurance.

    JimmyWells Thanks this.

Thanks! What about a tag for the drive there? Usually, when buying from a dealer I would get a temp tag but in Maryland they won't do that unless I'm registering and tagging the vehicle in the state. I assume Mercer will have a Kentucky base plate?

I got ashplateine problem. Took 2 weeks to get this fuel treatment. It's fleet guard ashplateine condition. I would use Howells or something. I'll upload a pic of my old filter before n after lol.

@JimmyWells Mercer can give you an intent to lease on letter, with this letter you can get temp insurance from OOIDA. With that letter and prof of ins. and a bill of sale. You should not have a problem

If I were you I would take the sellers signed title to Louisville and have Mercer get an Illinois title there will be no sales tax.

The people in recruiting can answer many of these questions. Mercers recruiters will tell you the truth, they don't lie. Just listen to what they say and not what you want to hear. That goes for any dept. in Louisville, listen to what they say, not what you think you want to hear.

There is a big difference in fuel conditioners. There are the off the shelf stuff that cleans injectors or lowers the cloud point. But if you have fuel issues not related to temp. this off the shelf stuff does very little.

The two big problems with fuel are Asphaltene and Microbial Growth. Truck Stop conditioners will not touch these

    BioBor JF for microbial growth
Fleetguard Fuel System Additive for asphaltene

Siphon any water off the bottom of your tanks, run a bottle of BioBor every few months and run some asphaltene conditioner thru the system for several months. Then when winter gets here use what ever you want to lower the cloud point.

Take care of your fuel system and you will not be changing filters on the side of the road, calling road service, or limping to the nearest truck stop.

When you have a load on, you have made a commitment. poor maintenance is a poor excuse for a late delivery.
