mercer transportation

Tarping doesnt bother me and i am not against staying out over a week if the money is right but i want to do well enough to not have to put up with 6 days a month home time. If trucking has got that bad i might as well stay where i am.

 

They had my approval nearly finished but i didnt like the financing deal i had at the moment so i went COLD temporarily but im still studying it

 

Well for what is worth i worked less than 6 months last year and netted over 60k. Have worked more this year if you consider a 3 to 5 hour day working, and gonna end up about the same net. From March to this Tuesday i was home all but about 20 days. Did a 2 week tour of the midwest around the 4th of July. Other than that it was all short local stuff.

 

That sounds good but im in birmingham al so dont know how they function in my area. I have some $4.00 per mile freight of my own if they let me run my own but im scared of letting them onto it as i dont know if theyd steal it out from under me

 

I don't know the specific lanes so I can't tell you how often you can be home but that revenue isn't hard to hit. The amount of miles it takes to make the revenue depends on your ability to pick freight.

Nope. I've been approved to go there but I haven't made the switch yet. I'm just relaying info to you I learned from reading this ENTIRE thread & from talking to Mercer drivers.

 

Yeah ive read most of it as well. Lots of good info but i have a family and new home and just dont want to screw up. Thanks for the response.

 

Then why would you lease to anyone? Why not just keep hauling your own freight?

 

Dont have authority or truck yet. Just have an inside deal on a gig where my son n law works. They told me if i got a truck they would pass me some loads.
