Thanks Spyder. Thanks Roshea. I usually keep the cellular date turned off while in Canada. Right now we also have a Canadian cell phone. We might keep it or might just go to Tim Horton's or A&W and use their wifi to send logs etc. But I am leaning more toward keeping our Canadian cell as we use the map on the phone when our GPS gets lost (which happens all too often).
Roshea, so would we use a service like BorderConnect to do the ACI/ACE?

TBH I had forgot about it. I remember the dealer kinda trying to tell me about it but he didn't know much about it so I didn't listen much. I have paperwork that explains it with my owners manuals but after the first 2-3 days of having the truck I stashed those in the cabinets. Now I'm sold on it.

But I understand why others like/love older, simpler engines too. And I've been sold on Detroit motors for years (well not the DD13), my 60 series was solid. My first DD15 only really ever had an egr issue covered by warranty (twice) that had me in the shop for 2-3 hours both times. And so far no real issues with this on. Maybe it is to smart for its own good, but I'll learn how to deal with that. LOL

@CJndaTruck that is called Virtual Technician. I have mine set up where it will send me an email within seconds of a light coming on. It's great. I had a sensor throw a fault, wasn't a big deal and went off a day or so later.

When the engine light comes on it's nothing serious, if the other engine light with the word "engine" below it comes on, that's the one that means there is a real problem and you had better get in somewhere.

There's plenty of "newer" trucks that have never spent a day in the shop. There's plenty of older trucks that have never spent a day in the shop. There's plenty of both that have spent enough time in a shop to cause the owner to go broke.

Yes, I did read it would send an email telling you what was going on. I'm going to set that up. My problem was I had just totally forgot about it until I called my shop. I've had this truck for??? 15 months now with no issues so i never thought about it. It is nice.

Question--the recruiter said he is going to do a "dachshund" report on my husband. What is that? I googled it but came up empty.

Do you mean DAC report. If so it's a work history for truck drivers. When drivers quit the send information like accidents or abondend equipment and would they rehire. Kind of like a credit report for truck drivers.

Radioshark, I bet that is what he meant. Maybe his spellchecker changed it from DAC to dachshund? LOL

I'm not so sure it's that the engineering has gotten worse but it definitely doesn't help that they keep adding moving & electrical parts which only increases the chance something will go wrong. Although I've done a lot of reading up on the DD15 & most of the emissions issues can be avoided with some maintenance, not your regular service but with maintenance non the less. The other problem is most of the technicians don't have a clue about the emissions.
