. Vangtransport, what I mean by glitches is little problems that didnt affect me getting loads. What I refer to as a glitch is like reloading a page.

I am honestly not belittling any problems anyone had, you are one who the few who in today's post have given very specific answers. In truckstop and in person conversation , you many times can only get," the dang thing don't work". And if ask specific reasons .

I also agree with you the communicating could for sure be better.
Would the posting of notes on the load board blog be optimum or would email or possibly text.

I use my coordinator as an example , if she is gonna be out for a couple hours or so, we get an email informing us well ahead that we will have a floater, and we are reminded several weeks ahead and kept reminding us like for a vacation .

Is that the norm for any of you?

If my coordinator is going to be out for a few hours I usually get no notification, if she is going to be gone for a day or two she usually tells me, but not always. That being said, I don't talk to her everyday either. I like the hands off approach and she usually only calls me to offer me loads if I'm only booked on one or 2 loads. I prefer that so it works for me and her.

I don't talk to mine everyday either, I don't mind the heads up, it's either a quick email or mass text to all her driver's. I would rather know than not, of course I also give permission to floaters to call away , I help train those joker's, it's entertainment driving down the road

That's what I was referring to as well, glitches with the board. If your glitches have been fixed, there should be a place to go where people can look and say, "that's the same thing I'm having", with instructions how to fix it. Basically a trouble shooting guide before escalating it to IT.

The only issue with posting on the load board is, it's the load board, if it goes down then we're SOL. Emailing everyone seems tedious plus unless it's a mass email it still won't reach everyone, so IMO it would be much easier to post fixes on the blog, because that doesn't seem to go down, or even on their FB page. Anything would be better than hunting for a answer, or getting no response from IT via email.

Front lift axle is what I am talking about when I say pusher axle. The drive line would have to be longer, but will definitely be better is someone wants a non-powered axle that can lift when not needed or when more traction is needed.

Another option is to have a drive axle in the front and a tag on the rear that does not lift, but uses the trucks regular suspension. If the suspension is air, I definitely would have the leveling valve on the front driving axle. Roadway used to use these types of axles, ax did Trans-Con way back. I drove for a LTL company that the rear axle was dead. You had to really watch where you went. Ours was 4 spring suspension and you could get stuck in a level gravel parking lot.

So how much fuel and how long would it take before you broke even? Include the cost of parts/ material ,labor, downtime and loss of trade value.

Testing shows a lift axle on a trailer is a .5 mpg increase. I would assume one on the truck would be a bit more due to drive axles also having to spin all the gears in the pumpkin, not just the wheel ends. But it's expensive. At at least 5k. With my fuel cost averaging 31 cpm it just doesn't make sense right now. Now if fuel would shoot back up to over 4$ a gallon id reevaluate that. Another time I'd really consider it is if i blew a rear end and had to replace one. If im having to spend 4k anyway id most likely go ahead and spend 5k and get the liftable pusher.
