I think his biggest gripe, as would be mine as well, is the whole "customer is desperate & they really need this load moved" BS story. Any load offering following that should have big money on it. I don't mind being called in loads, good or bad, but don't give me the "desperate customer" story.

I have heard those calls, need a favor calls, this is a hot load calls, etc for 38 years .
If I have to wade thru 5 bad ones , to get the good one every 6th call, I can do that.
It's no different that my coordinator calling or looking at loadboard,. You turn down far more than you take.
It's the nature of the beast , its just part of the freight business.
Like I said , they moved 250 loads that had been passed over last month, in this manner.
For me , it's simply one of those things , I don't let it bother for one second.
Halpinuout is rather new at being an owner, it's a big transition , I am just suggesting there are bigger things to give attention to.
Some important things could get lost in the weeds if he gets in the mode of gravitating towards little stuff.
It's the glass half vs. the glass half full way of thinking.
When it comes down to it , most everyone would take the odds of 1 out of 6 calls being a home run.
It just seems like the general mood of this thread is folks who are not quite happy with things, the tone of this thread has changed greatly since the first reply in 2012.
If anyone dares to be happy or satisfied here at mercer, they seem to be raked over the coals.
If ya don't join in the negative vibe, you are in the wrong.
It's not a perfect world here,. But it's still better than other alternatives.
I just find it odd that it's rare to find much positive on this thread anymore.
I find much more positive people when I meet them in person.
This actually is very very few people posting here , far less than it used to be,. Many drivers that are still here at mercer, came here because of this thread. They are still here but don't post here any longer.
And yes , I did have that one time when I was mad enough, I threatened to quit, but I resolved that problem. One instance in 7 years, thought I better mention that as it is often brought up.
I will close with, try to find positives, not negatives, they will weigh you down and keep you from flying.
Remember, your attitude determines the altitude at which you fly.
With that, I leave this thread to you.Highway Sailor and hi beam Thank this. -

There have been things added like elog and such,. It's normal progression as technology changes,
No different than the change from payphones to phones at the tables , 800 numbers and calling cards, to beepers, to bag phones, then smartphones , computers and loadboard.
It's nothing that hasn't happened before and will continue to happen.
None of the changes are profound enough to result in this kind of attitude change.
This is a very small slice of maybe 10 folks who post with any regularity,. You would think if it was such a change , you would see it posted elsewhere .
You ever think that any changes in the company could be a direct result of the changes that have occured in society and the prevailing attitudes in society?
For example, everyone likes to say , " they aren't hiring the same folks they used to". , Of course they aren't, those guys are hard to find anymore.
Folks ought to take the time to call and just talk to recruiting, it's become a much harder job.
That does need to be accounted for, organizations change as society and the people in it change.
I woke up Wednesday morning at the flying j in russelville,ar to find my blue airline cut on both ends , the hose gone and only the ends left, keep in mind my lines come out back of tractor underneath trailer and hook up with quick connects.
First time in 38 years I have had someone tamper with equipment. -

Just because someone posts about something they are frustrated with it upset about doesn't make them a negative person.
Mercer is an awesome company, I wish I would've come here sooner. I don't see myself leaving unless I get my own numbers. But people should be able to post about the good & the bad without being called out for either.CJndaTruck, Allan M, thaistick and 3 others Thank this. -
Anyone ever been to Trans Cargo in Wilmington/New Castle Delaware? Wondering if they have Overnite parking best I can tell on Google maps is everything around is gated up... So no? I'm coming from up by Harrisburg, PA will be cutting down through Lancaster to avoid Tolls... Guessing my best bet will be to stay at the Truck stop in Lancaster which I have never been to, the reviews don't seem to appealing either lol. Anyone familiar with the Wilmington area got a recommendation?

@mickeymouseclub I'm not going to keep talking about this. We all have our own opinions on things and we all may/do operate differently. This is a public discussion forum where all topics good and bad get discussed. I think your taking it out of context to say this thread is all negative. I certainly don't see it that way. Still lots of good info gets put on here. Some negative things but it is what it is. I like Mercer If didn't I would have been long gone. They aren't perfect. I switch coordinators about 2 months ago after trying to hold out on my first coordinator I had but it just couldn't work itself out... That's part of life, sometimes you can try and try and it just doesn't happen... I wish the guy I have now would have been my first... Its definitely been a welcomed change...
