I was told that if res coolant mixed with the oil that it wouldn't turn milky looking. Why is this?

 

What type rack mount will fit over the apu brackets? The rack has to be raised over apu brackets .

Where they have problems is on apu side the tubing is in pieces, they only use two u bolts and a piece of tubing eventually works out

I am just trying to see how two notches look like crap.

 

I kind of like my Sarasota runs every afternoon 4 days a week and finishing with a Tampa and Orlando Fri and sat.

 

Wasnt thinking about over the frame apu mounts. In that situation id say get the right kind or make apu mounts that don't go over the frame.

 

Post a picture of these rack mounts your referring to?

 

Hmmm guess I'll be running Chicago for a bit now lol. Why couldn't they leave me on my Ohio run

 

Basically a piece of curved half inch plate steel. 4 predrilled holes. 2 for the truck frame, 2 for the headache rack foot. Much better and cleaner looking than ubolts. They sell them just about every where that sells headache racks, including the company store.

Obviously that won't work if your apu is mounted with an over the frame mount. In which case you would need to get different brackets for the apu to mount it directly to the frame rail.

Basically it comes down to philosophy. There are two ways of doing things. One works and looks like crap such as ubolts, spacers and cutting a big hole out of the head ache rack. Or the other way, works and looks clean, like it was designed by an engineer.

Dont get me wrong, if I'm out of time or on the side of the road i got a doctorate in jerry rigging macguyvering duct tape and baling wire fixes. But once back at the house i believe in doing it over the right way.

 

After a couple more of these 645 mile runs ill be begging for a nice easy Chicago. This schedule is taking its toll. Tonight is going to be rough.
