If you live in TN you will do fine. The rates and availability of freight is very good in the midwest...

    Rickp and bluechief Thank this.

Van side you'll have to run to make your money. If you're trying to go home every weekend it'll never work.. And the majority of the good freight is coast to coast

    bluechief Thanks this.

This is why i run the way i do. Most of the good money is east of i35. Id go home way more if i could make the same money going back and forth to washington.

    RStewart and bluechief Thank this.

It’s always been in IFTA. The state sales tax wasn’t included in the price. Plus they don’t give you full credit back if you buy too much just like VA.

Since when? I didn't hear about this. But that's good news.

I don't have a regular home time routine. My wife rides with me so we go home whenever. Where I live it would be hard to go home every weekend & make money. I don't see many van loads going to the NW that pay very good & like thaistick said the loads coming out are cheap. The money at Mercer in a van is in the Midwest & the South. I don't know who Mike Hines is but you can average that revenue pretty easy. I started on the 9th of January & had 4 more days off after I started & I ended my month on the 29th. I grossed $11,700. No where near my best month & below my average but I wasn't running for the money the whole time either. I was taking loads that would get me to certain areas for personal reasons.

@bluechief don't listen to this crap. It's total nonsense. This guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

That sounds good then. I like going west and since I'm from the south that won't be a problem. I probably won't go home every weekend but it will be nice knowing the option is there. Right now I stay out a month before I go home and it's getting old! I'm waiting on Mercer to get back up with me and hopefully get started quick! Thanks for all the info!

How don't I know what I'm talking about. Because it's not what you want to hear or its not how you run or how you making your money? I've worked here longer than you. I been on both sides Van and now Flat..I still have friends on the van side.. The ones that are making top money are going coast to coast. Trade shows etc. And they stay out for two weeks on an average...I gave the guy a honest answer and you're gonna tell him I don't know what I'm talking about lol that's why the list to switch to flat is long again.. It's a flat bed company not Van.. It may have picked up but it's still a flat company. If you want to be home more with less miles run flats.. Running Van you will run for your money and you might only avg 1.35-1.40.. Combine that with a truck payment and trailer payment along with your house bills whatever that may be, you gonna have a Problem
