@TruckerPete1990 did you find out what that lightweight tarp comment was for?

 

What makes them so bad? I've never hauled any show loads.

 

Theyre always a cluster ##. They post em as good rates but you show up and theres hundreds of trucks, usually all with the same appt and they dont load in arrival order but in the order the items are disassembled and packaged back up (sort of). Shortest wait ive ever had was 6 hrs to get a dock. Longest was about 23. Last 1 i did had a 10am appt and finally got my bills after 1am. They always try to cram ya in to some facility built for bobtail trucks. Then ya get a lecture about not being late. By the time your empty you coulda took a cheap load and made more money.

Kind of funny I had the Chicago Agent ask me a week or so ago if I was interested in this good paying load picking up at McCormick Place in Chicago. ( That's where all the trade shows are ) ... I thought for a second and told him No, I always see lots of trucks parked over there and that place is run by the Union workers... Ill pass lol. It just didn't seem right. If it was all that great he wouldn't have been calling me, it would have been taken by another driver which was also at the back of my mind. I'm not a fan of the CHI office anyhow I try and avoid dealing with them as much as possible. Glad I didn't take that load...

 

Forgot to mention, weighing empty/loaded. You're lucky if the facility has scales on site.

Yay, nice little surprise. I got a TONU settlement from 3 months ago on a day when I finished another load first. Nice little bonus check going into the weekend.

 

Good info. I've not done one of those, but I love the concert loads.

 

Ive never done a concert. Theyre probably smaller and easier to manage. Id still be hesitant lol.
