It can be. I pull a van at Mercer and I do just fine. Most of the flatbedders do better than I do but I do just fine

It's not first in first out. It's first empty first offered. Honestly, they changed it up a bit & I don't know exactly how it works now. I don't pay attention to it cause I book very few loads that I'm matched to. Someone will come along & explain the first empty first offered deal to you. Like I said, I don't pay any attention to it.

Okay I was just curious because if you have a load board can you not book your own loads if someone else needs the load first

Just make sure you have $15k in the bank for repairs.

We all book our own loads for the most part. It's not about who needs it but who's matched to it. Just because a guy is sitting in Columbus doesn't mean he's matched to a load going to Cali from Columbus. I just look on the board & I commit to what I want. Then I find out if I get the load or not. Then I go from there.

I was at Mercer last week a couple days while waiting to get my truck into Cummins. There was about 4 or 5 Landstar trucks for orientation. Look as though all was doing van. Seems like Mercer is expanding the Van side to me? The front drivers lot was more van than flats. Unless more of a turnover doing Vans?
