You have no idea what my expenses and gross profits are. You might have an idea based solely on your experience but you know nothing about me or my operation.
It's great that you would rather be a company driver, nothing wrong with that. But don't come here talking like what you're doing is the only way to be trucking. I've had a line haul position. It was ok. I did it for 6 years then I left it to buy a truck and go back otr. I like what I'm doing now much more even though there is (according to you) more headaches.

I think I figured out a way to be able to use the vents with the factory ac. -
Your cost to run a truck isn’t vastly different than anyone else’s . And once again. I was tossing my two cents in to another driver . Not you . Not the other guy. Anytime anyone mentions that there may be other options to anyone else you guys get your hackles up , easy tiger . Straight up . HE personally at this moment and time likely shouldn’t be in the game, throwing away money on a finger cross . Like I said. JMO

Take a long hard look at the truck. IIRC, you said you paid it off a while ago. Your maintenance and repair costs may be equal to a payment on a new or newer truck, but those newer trucks will have issues too. And some won't be warrantied. In your shoes, I'd honestly look at trading it in either as is for a brand new rig, or do what you can to get an overhaul paid for with a new clutch and fix as many of the small issues that you can while it is down. I can't tell you how it will turn out doing either of those, but those are the two options I'd consider if you want to stay in the O/O game. Trading for another used truck is just trading for a new set of issues for you to discover.
However, if you feel that going back to a company position would be better for you and your family, then do so. Plenty of good companies out there and quite of few right in your back yard (Fleenor, Maverick, TMC to name a few).thaistick Thanks this. -
