Partially because rates im seeing havent come up for summer time, at least not across the board. Also seems like there are always more trucks ahead of me on the board now.

I have only been here 4 months but I had twenty plus with me in orientation. Im not sure they hire that many twice a week but does Mercer have the freight to support all these trucks? Are the rates not there because the agents have more pressure to get loads at the cost of lower rates? Im I thinking too much?

Carriers and agents get too much credit for prices. Shippers set rates and give it to whoever will haul for that price. Theres too much capacity this year so they throw out low numbers and someone will take it. Eventually shippers get tired of poor service for low rates and come back around.

Was just told a shipper i was hauling for regular out of the house who switched to someone who undercut us just kicked them out last week and were getting it back this week. Hopefully it will start a trend.

most of SE counties yes, plus parts of NJ NY DE MD and VA require the PA permit.

    for PA only .......

The following counties are currently under quarantine:

    • Berks
    • Bucks
    • Carbon
    • Chester
    • Dauphin
    • Delaware
    • Lancaster
    • Lebanon
    • Lehigh
    • Monroe
    • Montgomery
    • Northampton
    • Philadelphia
    • Schuylkill
The quarantine may be expanded to new areas as further detections of the Spotted Lanternfly are confirmed. Intentional movement of the Spotted Lanternfly is expressly prohibited and is a serious offense. Violations could result in criminal or civil penalties and/or fines.

The quarantine restricts the movement of certain articles. Industries and regulated articles under the quarantine that are not to be removed/moved to a new area are:

    • Any living stage of the Spotted Lanternfly, Lycorma delicatula, including egg masses, nymphs, and adults
    • Brush, debris, bark, or yard waste
    • Landscaping, remodeling or construction waste
    • Logs, stumps, or any tree parts
    • Firewood of any species
    • Grapevines for decorative purposes or as nursery stock
    • Nursery stock
    • Crated materials
    • Outdoor household articles including recreational vehicles, lawn tractors and mowers, mower decks, grills, grill and furniture covers, tarps, mobile homes, tile, stone, deck boards, mobile fire pits, any vehicles not stored indoors
    -----------------------------------------------

    From NJ state info ........

A permit is required for those located or working in and out of both the New Jersey and Pennsylvania quarantine area, who move vehicles, products or other conveyances into or out of the quarantine zone. This permit may be obtained through the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and is recognized for use by the New Jersey Department of Agriculture, and other states. Motor carriers conducting business in the southeastern corner of Pennsylvania were required as of May 1, 2019 to obtain a SLF permit. Carriers with drivers who have not completed the training by the deadline could face litigation, could be turned away from the quarantine area, or be stopped for inspection by law enforcement.

Mercer has the lowest rates in the industry flatbed wise. They don't have as many customers as other flatbed companies. Everything is brokered, for all This i might as well go get my authority and get more of the money and have access to way more loads rather than give up 25 percent just to pull all broker loads. It's not worth it. It doesn't matter how much a load pays, if it's not consistent you'll never make as much as the guy that's running consistent freight that might not pay as much
