It used to be that you only had to have six foot drop tarps. Sometimes they check to make sure you have the stuff on the list at orientation, sometimes they don't. Not sure if its still that way or not. Personally, I never liked that about them, if you are free to do as you please then they should not dictate on what you must have when signing on.

Exactly what I was thinking... if it's non forced dispatch then i wouldn't take 8 foot tarp loads and problem solved.

Recruiter sent me a list it specified must have at least 6 foot drops

    - 12) 4" straps that are 30' long
    - 10) binders
    - 10) chains
    - enough tarps that can cover a full 6' x 48' load fully
    - 100 bungee cords
    - 6 coil racks
    - 24 plastic edge protectors
    - 8 4x4 timbers
-9) pc of rubber belting (for coils)
    - head ache rack
This will be all that is minimally required

It's probably because they need most trucks on the fleet to be close to an average flatbed. A they need to encourage tarps as tarps can make a difference getting a decent load.
I agree it shouldn't be required but recommended but then so many won't try something unless it's required.
You might be surprised how many try signing on without a headache rack thinking it's only for storage.

Hey question i was over at the company store deciding weather or not to buy any of that Cleanfire Fuel Additive, does anyone here use it, is it worth while to spend money on, like maybe running it through the truck once a month or something

Haven't loaded any vehicles on my step yet but I was thinking maybe the frame or axle but I'd definitely ask someone cuz my biggest concern would be breaking the axle if I used it

I carry one 8'er and two 6' drops, plus a smoke tarp.

The proper way to secure vehicles, is to get some T-J hooks. They go into the slots in the frame rails. Quick and easy, keeps the chains off the frame and axles.
Lot of step decks guys carry these and all the car haulers use them. Should be able to find them at chrome shops, and some tarp shops. Cost about $10 each
