So will be internet explorer in the future for Europe. It will not be installed automatically, as it has been previously. I'm wondering if they are going to do this here ? (I hope they do)

No, of course they won't. I find that they think they are "letting" people pick browsers funny as hell.

hmmmm last time I checked nobody had to use internet explorer anywhere in the world, if they want firefox (yuck) or chrome or any other browser it is their option
just go download and install the one you want

IE has always been "invokable" even through another browser. A simple command string can fire up IE, depending on how tight the security settings are. What they are suggesting is a way to disable it entirely, which will be new for Windows.

However, there are some things that won't work in Firefox, or any of the other browsers, such as the client/server version of McAfee Messaging Security, where if you open it with anything else, it simply tells you to go jump off a bridge. I'm guessing you will simply leave it "not disabled" and use both, which isn't any different than it is now, heh.

I just wish that someone would come up with a viable pc alternative to Microsoft.

I'm using Google Chrome most of the time. It's nothing fancy, you can't really customize it, but all my banking sites that firefox has always choked on run just fine in Chrome.
