I am going to start off by saying we were paid Household Guide Miles. NEVER hub miles or actual mileage. With GPS coming on in the last years of my time out there it was discovered that approx 20% if not more miles overall was "Lost" to being inside a city many times in traffic or worse, out of route. I could put down 7200 miles on the rig in 6 days, but only got paid around 2600 each way, that's what? 5200 paid at .52 to the truck team?
My last company paid GPS miles dock to dock the moment I hooked up to the trailer load on pick up over the satellite. For me it was a joy to see the net pay, deductions and whatever I have designated to go to wife or to fuel card that week for the run. But it will NEVER be the actual miles on the ground to get from say Bear Island Paper in all the way to Des Moines Dow Jones Printing. That's always a loss in both miles and time.jkim Thanks this. -
