Question.
If a company uses HHG miles where can one input pick up and delivery addresses to calculate HHG miles by yourself. I've tried the OOIDA route mapper and I've tried other sites but they all vary. So what source or version or software do companies use?
Also, with new addresses, how often does HHG update their data?
miles not adding up!

Quit working for a company that pays an O/O or L/O by the mile. Percentage pay is a preferred method MOST of the time, except when freight rates are exceptionally low, kinda like they are now.
Dave_in_AZ, Lepton1 and flood Thank this. -
you didn't ask and now you don't like how they do it....HalpinUout Thanks this. -
HHG is SHORTEST legal route
US-this road and State route- that road.... are you running the shortest route or are you using freeways most of the time....? -
-
It depends on what software they use for routing.

If you sign a lease with a company that pays a fixed rate, you can go "all in" on the bet that they are giving you a seriously low rate. If you want to maximize your revenue to the truck (TTT) then lease with a company that pays a percentage of the line haul AND...
... DON'T HAUL CHEAP FREIGHT.
If you are paid X dollars from point A to B, then it doesn't matter whether you take the more efficient route on freeways and highways versus crawling through small towns in order to save 13 miles on a 700 mile run AS LONG AS YOU ARE BEING WELL COMPENSATED TO RUN THE LOAD.
Leasing to a company that pays a percentage will make you more money, as long as you are willing to put in the extra effort to make relationships with brokers and customers and learn the lanes that pay the most. If you don't want to do the extra effort and want the company to give you loads, then working on a fixed low $/mile is the alternative.flood Thanks this. -
It will say in your fleece agreement how your mileage is calculated. There is one pay scale that goes zip to zip, I can't think of the name, but it's called something short miles. I'm not kidding. Read through your fleece agreement, it will say, you probably have your initials right by it.
Yes it's legal.
I'd love to know which company.tucker and Toomanybikes Thank this.
