Like the title suggests I'm wondering if there are any companies who hire day 1 trucking school graduates for more than 49 cents a mile (the highest I've seen so far)?

Probably not unless you go to a company where you have to unload & breakdown as well as drive such as US Foods, McLane, Dot Foods. My first job paid between $.75-$1 a mile depending on the load. That includes the base mileage & breakdown pay.

I get that. But for someone fresh out of school there are less options than for someone with experience. I'm trying to get a better idea of the best options for new CDL holders

Break down is one of two things. First if the truck quit all together, that's a breakdown. Proper breakdown with the trucks we had were rare. Maybe annually. Today's trucks with the overdone computer and emissions in particular are prone to more problems.

Breakdown is also used in the food warehouse and others meaning to move products off one pallet onto a smaller one by hand.

Food service pay good like other said you breakdown the loads. You drive the truck some and then hand unload the trailer and deliver the food boxes inside like restaurant or fast food places. They usually start their days like 3am. They pay good but it a lot of work.

I have a friend that got a job out of school for a small company pulling reefers that makes .51 I think. There are no Megas that come close that I know about. Look around for a smaller outfit that actually wants to retain drivers and you might get that kind of pay.

Tankers will get you close out of school
And after a year or so the pay will increase

If you are looking for good money fresh out of school look for a local Food service company. You will work your butt off but make a lot of good bank, especially during the summer months.
